| | Rider Down. Another bike bites the dust Riding along a residential road this morning on the way to the supermarket. When a volvo 4by4 tried to overtake, only he failed to see the bollards in the middle of the road thus forcing him to swerve into me. The next 10 seconds are a blur. When I finally stop moving I don't really feel hurt. It is only when I try to get up that I see that pedals are still clipped to my shoes alas with no bike, and my left arm is facing the wrong way and is a rather fetching shade of red. The funny/scary thing is that the driver did not stop apparently he sped off with my bike jammed underneath. The police later told me that bike eventually damaged the car thus forcing him to stop and seek assistance. I have just left the hospital with a now fixed dislocated shoulder and 184 stitches with a promise of skin graphs in the near future. Yet I feel quite happy which I have just put down to the painkiller they gave me. |

| | That's terrible, man. I hope you're not too sore in the morning. Every time I read one of these accident stories I think, "But for the grace of God..." This sounds like the sort of crash that you had no chance of avoiding. You were stuffed as soon as you got on your bike and that's quite scary. What happened to the remains of your bike? |

The police told me they have a couple of witnesses so hopefully i'll be able to get some sort of compensation. Thanks for the kind words.

| | F'kin hell! Sorry to hear that - get better soon. Make sure that you speak to the police ASAP and ask that they prosecute for careless driving and failing to stop and/or failing to report an accident all criminal offences. Ask a mate to take pictures of the accident scene, your injuries and your damaged property. It sounds like this driver will say that you swerved and they had no chance of missing you. Then sue the wanker... |

| | You're having some terrible luck vinz... +1 to lpg's comment. Fucking terrible driving. Swirving into you to avoid bollards?? The fact that the brakes weren't enough to stop them shows that, beside the fact that they are clearly spectacularly short-sighted, they were also going too fast anyway. Absolutely disgusting. I hope the driver is thoroughly ashamed of themselves. I'd want them to never get in a car again. This has really fucked me off. Get well soon mate. |

| | That is total shit man - if there is a branch in Norwich, the law firm I've used for my accident is Augustine's (part of Veale Wasbrough lawyers or something). They were really sympathetic and have worked on a no-win, no-fee basis. Through them, the other side has already accepted legal responsibility for breaking my hand. |

| | Fuck man, that's fucking horrible! :-( Please read roxy's thread about what to do in an accident. Don't let this go. Fuck them up! http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4213.html Once you've found where they live you can begin poisoning their water supply. Lead is an interesting option causing insanity before death I believe. |

+1 to that. It still fucking amazes me that in situations like this people choose to drive into someone with the knowledge that the collision may be fatal, instead of just allowing their car to get a bit of damage which is repairable anyway... hope you make a speedy recovery and that justice is swift.
