Shitty news Vinz. As all have said above, sue the cunt. Driving away from the scene could have ended up with your death, even if the accident didn't. If they were prepared to do that in a built up area, with witnesses clearly around, then they would do the same in the countyside at night, when no fucker is around. That fuckfacedkiddybotherer needs to spend some time in prison, reflect on what they should have done and make some new 'friends'.

No real consolation for being battered and bruised but a hit an run driver could well be looking at jail time - best place for them.

It's definitely the hit and run aspect that gets the red mist coming on for me. Accidents, even ones caused by daft twats in "safer" boxy cars. But to know you've hit someone so hard there bikes still attached to your car and drive off. If they don't get serious bans (1 year +) or prison time, I'd be fucked off.

Hope you get better quick and follow up on both criminal and civil aspects...

This is the thing though, they really could only get a year driving ban, I would not be happy with that at all. For all the driver knows, you could die on the roadside as they drive off shitting their pants. A ban should not even be an option as the only penalty, that it is makes me sick. They should be in prison, not for the accident itself, that is clearly careless at least, but the driving off when their actions after the crash could be the difference between life and death, that deserves prison time, regardless of the outcome for the victim.

Vince, glad you're ok, my advice is to join the CTC now, costs about 30 quid. I dont think it matters that you've already been hit. Give them a phone and they'll put you into contact with a law firm who specialize in cycling accidents. I did this last year after a bus behind me didnt stop at a zebra crossing when I did to let a ped cross, and crushed my beloved fuji. I was slightly injured, but just bruises, etc. They were really good, just a few forms to fill out, a few phone calls, and they arrange a visit to a private Dr who will make sure the medical report is good for you!
I just recieved a cheque for over 3 grand. You'll obviously get a LOT more.
