Brighton Fixed

Apologies for the blatant forum-jack. I've been lurking, and finally sold myself the idea of going fixed. I'd been riding my commuter as a single, and decided why not, raise the cash and grab an off the peg for £400. Until I remembered, I'm moving to Brighton next October. At the moment, I'm from Portsmouth, so lacking in the hills department. Is fixed a plan, or will I be regretting the lack of gears?

I love riding brighton Fixed.

By the way, if you use the seach function for "Brighton" and you'll find a community of fixed riders down there.

depends which part of Brighton, coast is flat, middle up London Road is flat, Southover Street is like everest, up by the station is a bit hilly, you can avoid most of them if you know you're way around

gearing around 69 inches is quite alright for most of the hills in brighton, and a reliable front brake is really a must, one reason is the hills which you can pick up quite a speed on and also the people dont often look when they step out/pull out in a car.

Sounds like more of a navigation problem - resold! And as for the brakes, I witnessed Brighton's hills in the snow (early april??) and it doesn't look a place to go brakeless anytime soon!
