Can we use Polls to make list threads?

It occurred to me last night:

The poll would be like "Do you want to come and do some very cool thing?"

Then all the 'yes' people would be on the list.

If it's possible to show a list of how people voted, in the OP, then tada!

I can anticipate a few problems, but might this be feasible? VB?

So, I have setup a test poll as an experiment and it seems to work quite well.

I'd like to write up a how-to, but one arm typing is a hindrance. It'll get done slowly.

I suppose people might like their lists being repeated and changing your mind is hard with this method.

Any more thoughts, anyone, VB, Bueller, anyone, ...

reckon ye olde liste method is better, just because you can't change your mind on a poll.

so it would be impossible to renege on your bold affirmations to ride naked up Oxford St on a monday at 0900 in January

This thread on the VB forum is pretty on topic and current. Maybe we'll see a mod soon that will allow polls to be created as 'changeable. Then we'd be good to go.

I wouldn't like the pub votes to be changeable though..

could result in some terrible decisions being rigged by unscrupulous characters

True, it should be an option when you make a poll, defaulting to unchangeable.

Agreed for now, but I'll keep an eye out for the mod to be released, then give it another think. Fair?

There's an old mod that allows vBulletin calendar entries to have a roll call on them, and people can attend and unattend events. However... the vBulletin calendar is kinda crappy and has no ability to sync to anything (no iCal or RSS from the calendar)... so if we used that we'd lose a lot of the richness of the Google calendar. Also... that hack hasn't been supported in a while and was a little buggy, so it would require some work to bring it up to date and make it secure again.
