OK, for pub suggestions we have the Eagle or Henry's. Mikec, Fc9k, can you guys vouch for any one of these? On the river sounds great, but you're right, if it's a small pub and going to be rammed, then probably better going someplace else.
Yep I will be joining you for a few beers and then a few more and maybe some more. My wifes friends are coming over from Wales from the weekend so not only do I have the green light for this. But a light which may be stuck on green for most of the afternoon and evening :)

What we really need is a pub on one of the commons - Jesus common, for example. I cant remember any names though as I worked there over 8 years ago!

I will probably be riding about around about 75. Just in case there are some slight inclines.

This is a clickable map http://www.cambridge-pubs.co.uk/ for the pubs in Cambridge.
I like the look of Fort St. George. It is large, on the common and river. It has a large front and back garden. Sports stuff etc. etc.

Fort St George already established as closed.

henry's is a wank hole.

Eagle is good, with a large courtyard but not really much bike room.

I'd be tempted by the Mill or The Anchor - buy beer in plastics, take out onto Mill Pond Green, drink, watch girls, watch punters falling in, enjoy.

Jealous.

Oh bollox, I think i may have given away that I went to Cambridge university - this probably means that at least one of you will hate me for ever now and hope that I fall off my bike and break my head or something. Arse.

The most northern point you can find, and then across the road. if you dont see everyone that means we've all been arrested by the fuzz. See you there.
This is going to be so much fun!!!

The anchor is a good suggestion. Its big too. I'd go for the Granta instead though, its got a massive patio out back on the river, I'm sure you'll seat everyone there.

They're within about 20 yards of each other though, so go to one first and if it doesnt take your fancy head to the other.

Henry's - honest to god I've never heard of it, and I've been here 4 years and been to pretty much most places.

[edit] Whoops, I'm a bit slow it seems. Yep after a google it seems henrys is pretty poorly thought of. Mashton's suggestion of Mill/Anchor is the best bet, lots of grass to sit on and some decent ales if thats your bag.

SOLD! The Granta's patio sounds like just the ticket, with the dual backup of the Mill/Anchor in case things go wrong. Are you going to join us for a beer in the sun? We should be getting into Cambridge around 2.30pm, major mechanical malfunctions aside.

Yep, definately. I'd love to come on the ride too, but I think me getting to hyde park by 9 after a big night is optimistic.

Might have to go tighten my chain before then - I don't think I could cope with the abuse...

Arrghhh I'm confused - Hyde Park Corner at 9ish, then on to Brick Lane? Concerned also about fitness - not worried about the distance (I think, and if I get dropped that's my look out) but what average speed do we think we're looking at? 20mph ain't going to happen with my fat arse...

no worries, i will almost definately be at the back, so if you slow down i will still be at the back, we'll just arrive later, and i may down a few tins on the way into town to catch up with the people who would already be sitting in the pub. sorted.

Don't go to cambridge. It's shit there.
Change the ride and come to Oxford instead, where the weather is fine and the ride up is even better.
PLUS a party waiting for you to arrive....

Oh, did I mention Cambridge sucks?

[disclaimer- Cambridge is lovely really, just not as nice as Oxford.]

Had a word with lebowski at east drinks tonight, and I've been delegated navigator from hyde park to polo so we'll be looking to leave hyde park corner, bang on nine, get to polo courts for half nine, pick up lebowski and the rest of the east mob and be on our way, the sooner we're on the road, the sooner we're in cambridge.
So make sure you're on time people, otherwise you'll be left behind, I'll put my number up in the phone numbers thread so take a note, and txt/ring me if shit happens on the way to hyde park.

she doesn't ride fixed does she.
Someone has just built one up, and i don't have clue who.

Also I'm not surprised she prefers cambridge undergrad to EX Postgrad, my college treats postgrads like shit...

not a chance, think she has some hybrid/city bike POS. Postgrad generally sounds like a deadend wherever you do it tbh. Glad I'm getting out into the real world in a month.

Just go to either Hyde Park corner or Brick lane polo courts, whichever is closer to you. They are leaving Hyde park at 9am sharp, then we will be leaving brick lane between 9.30 - 9.45am.

Don't worry too much about average speed. We at lfgss operate a strict 'leave no-one behind' policy. If however you do get left behind and are never seen from again, you can rest assured that we will all feel terrible and will dedicate at least a couple of drinks to you at the pub in Cambridge ;)
