Hi all, thought id do a "hello" thread as im new round these parts.
you can prob guess my real name, ive been lurking and reading as a "guest" for a while but as i have now picked up my bike i thought id actually start posting.


I managed to get a pretty old Pinarello steel bike that im gonna make single speed. Il post up some pics of the bike tomorrow incase anyone is interested.

if anyone else immediatly started singing a certain song in their head after reading my title then you will prob be at the bit now that goes "woo woo.....woo woo"

Twas actually a half hearted bit of harmless fun a play on 2 Stones tracks ............... but as usual you had to add a dig ................are you going through the menopause or something ?

errr.......beggars banquet?

I was wrong 2x today, both about the same bottom bracket and the way you should turn it. after about 30 mins fussing with the adjustable cup i noticed the arrow that said turn was pointing the other way, so i thing wow shrimano makes a French bb, weird, get the adjustable cup out, and start on the fixed cup, turn it the only way i have ever seen a fixed cup turn for ages, no good, turn it the other way, and it moves.

now i know that shirmano makes obscure mtb bbs that are left hand threaded on the non-drive side, and right hand threaded on the drive side. It was a laugh, kinda like the first time you encounter a 5 speed cassette hub.

Yes you are right it IS from another LP, Beggars Banquet, I was linking the two to have a fun dig at a small clique of forum posters.

I also liked the version by Bryan Ferry on his LP "Foolish Things" in the early 70's but I couldn't bring to mind anything remotely funny from that LP
