Airline bike bag

Hi,

I've just bought a bike bag to take my bike overseas, got it from wiggle in there sale:

http://wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.as...d%20Bike%20Bag

But it seems a little oversized, I could fit a lot more than a one small bob jackson in there... has any one else found a good one that is just the right size for one bike and isn't so massive..!

i want one of those wiggle ones, but cant get them in the states, you can get smaller ones here, but i need to move 2 bikes in one bag. if your coming state side ill buy it off ya, and you can get a smaller one for the trip back, and probly save some money as the pound is so strong... this alldepends on where and when your going to the usa

I have one in London. I used it over in J*pan. 20 bean deposit and you can borrow it. It's not a hard case, only a bike bag. I would recommend putting some cardboard in there too. You can come and have a look. I'm not back in London till tomorrow night btw.

freight (SF) makes a really nice one. fits a full bike nice n snug, but i think you have to take the bars/stem out for the whole thing to fit? it's not a hard case, but not super flimsy either, cordura and foam reinforced with plastic i believe. they lok really well made too, not sure on price though...

I've used this one and found it to be superb. Heavy duty enough to give the bike a basic level of protection.

Don't kid yourselves though, baggage handlers will throw the bag around, will stick it at the bottom of a pile of suitcases. The only way you can be sure your bike is safe is to get a hard box for it. No amount of plumbing tubing and foam is going to protect your bike in a bike bag.

Oh. and I've been told by lots of roadies who are used to flying around with expensive bikes for etapes, that the very best bags are made by Neil Pryde. They only really make one bag, and many places re-brand it and sell it as their own.

Is this what you used when you took your bike to Chicago or was that a hardcase?

I used that Planet-X bag. It's enormous. I didn't (couldn't) even have to take the seatpost and saddle off.

I paid around £45 for it, so I guess around £30 / $60...?
