You won't be parking out the back, it's too small.
Take a bus/tube if you can and see how the other half live.

can you not you just return the unsold ones VB? anyway, looking forward to this. this will be pretty exciting.

been through that area...bit dodge. andyp, are there enough railing/fence for 100+ bikes outside? doubt they'll use the back for bike storage if you have to go through the bar

Don't think so. Not sure really.

I'd rather have them sold and get support for our riders though.

Do you have a ticket btw?

Also just for fun I think we should have a guess at the nights fastest time and by whom.

I'm guessing 19.3 by Peter Mitchell

19.3 seconds to down a pint is pretty shit.
I'd put my money on wayne with 7.8 seconds per shandy ;)

This whole thing is, sorry, has turned into a complete farce.

Firstly there's a venue change 5 days before the event, which means that everyone who was going to be riding down on the night (pretty much everyone, yes??) is now having to leave their bikes at the mercy of the local yoofs.

And secondly, after being told for over a month that the start is at 7pm, it's now announced that for riders it's actually at 5pm. Which rules me out. Completely. 100%. I have absolutely no chance of getting there for 5. Zilch. Nil. None.

What a complete fucking joke. Whoever is organising this event is a buffoon.

Ahh shit Sam,
What a nightmare. I guess you have other commitments earlier on the Saturday yes? From your response I don't suppose there is any point in asking if there is any possibility of you getting there for 5.

What are we going to do. I don't think Dave is going to like this.

Anyone there?
Help!
Someone are you still up for this?

Not a chance in hell. My missus works til five on Saturday's I'm at home looking after a 19 month old, she gets in at half five, so coming in from Maidstone I was literally going to scrape through the door at 7pm as it was.

May I just add that I don't blame David for any of this. VB stated all along that he didn't want to organise it, but it ended up having to.

Consider it done.

The team will be sorted by then... Sam, come down anyway, I'll buy you beer and the ticket you have is a freebie from the coffers.

I'll still be there. Don't worry about that. Although now I'm a little bit worried as I hadn't planned to drink if racing, let alone riding the 40 miles home. Now there's only one reason not to drink, I can't see why I can't have a few!

I don't buy that "place x is shit" thing as it usually depends on how drunk you are and who you're with.. hopefully this event is still fun with enough of you slags (my new favourite word, possibly replacing 'muppets') turning up.

agreed hippy, the rollapaluza thing will make this place jump. but believe me, under almost any other circs you really wouldn't bother with it. trust me.

Actually her name is Therese, and she's not a buffoon at all, but never mind.

You can still ride the have-a-go. The reason the tema riders are wanted so early is so that there is more time for the actual head-to-heads.

32 team riders + at least 30 have a go rider = a lot of racing.

BB - has the format now changed to 2.90909090909 riders per team?

This is get well confusing.

I think Sam's accusations of buffoonery are borne out of frustration, and probably better aimed at members of Southwark Council, but I'd agree that it's all very last minute, which is not particularly helpful for those with childcare considerations, compounded in Sam's case by the fact he has made the ridiculous decision to live in Maidstone rather than London ;)

she would be the most frustrated of anyone. it's a big event to organise, and she's been screwed over at late notice by the council. it can't have been easy finding a new venue at short notice.

Nothing about organising any event is an easy thing. It's nearly always more stress than it's worth, right up to the point where it happens and then is awesome.
