Subtle changes, bugs and feedback

Please let me know in here anything that is weird, not working how you might expect, or just looks broken.

I'll try and deal with everything that this thread throws up.

The image is too big... avatars now get stored on the server and that makes it all faster.

But the images for avatars must be below 60 pixels wide and 60 pixels too.

When you upload or resize the animated gif, it strips the animation. So you need to upload it using something that is a bit smarter.

Attached version resized with a smarter program.

Bloody email went and broke. Not vBulletin's fault... Fusemail's fault.

Just got it temporarily working.

Hello VB, TheBrick(Tommy) here. I could not reset my password.

I checked my password as asked in the important sticky. It seemed correct but I could have made a mistake. I registered with a yahoo email. However thought I would check to see if I had used a different email address (my google mail address) but got a different response from the forum. It (the forum) stated that the google mail address was not known, where as when I used the yahoo email, the address I registered with I had the response that my details had been sent to that email address. I have checked the yahoo spam mail folder but no luck.

Any ideas? It seems strange that when I input my yahoo mail it seems to recognise it and tell me it will send the details but I get nothing.

Please help me VB you're my only hope.

Much to my chagrin the outsourced email provider I signed up to only 2 weeks ago (fusemail.com) went and killed one of their servers. What pissed me off about that is that they didn't tell me, they didn't update their status page, they didn't bounce email or give my server an alert... nothing.

So that's now cancelled and I'm temporarily fallen back onto gmail.com for sending emails and it's working.

But, all email sent over the past 2 hours didn't go anyway. Sorry!

And now I need to find another email provider as gmail.com limits the number of recipients each day and I might go over that limit.

On it.

Ahhhhhhh I don't like all this change. It scares me and nothing is like it was earlier. Everything was almost certainly better in the old days. Maybe. Well, not quite everything.

Ahhh it works now. I tried a few times at about 17:00 and gave it a few hours for hte email to come, nothing happend so I thought there must be a problem. Must have been during a window of no email.

Another problem. Can only reply by going to quote and deleating the quote. Quick reply does not work. There are no quick reply icon to click on. I am using Opera.

Why can't you just get to the end of the thread and click in the quick reply box? Thats how it works on other forums.

Because I want to force you to reply to posts so that later I can add a bit to show precisely who is replying to what.

This way when a tangent happens in the thread it is still possible to read the conversation through. Not a problem on small threads, but is a problem on large threads (i.e. when someone replies to something on the 20th page of the bike porn thread).

New email host secured in the form of http://www.tuffmail.com/

They've been really helpful in repairing the mess of the other provider, and we should have near 100% email service back up and running.

It's just a coincidence that Fusemail crashed on the day of the migration. A royal pain in the arse considering I'm asking you all to use email to reset your passwords!

Is it really necessary to have the image recognition on the search function? Its really irritating

can the quick reply process be made quicker ?????

But on the positive everything else is amazing : ).

great job VB, as much as i prefer vanilla this site is growing there isn't much choice... some feedback:

is there a way that i can just click on this quick reply box and start typing instead of having to click on the "quick reply" link on the right? (sorry i just re-read the thread and saw your reasoning)

and are there ways to separate things into columns like those links on the right of each post could be in a different column than the actual post text? it's hard to find those little things (took me 15sec to find "quick reply". i'm finding it really hard to read the posts as well... the way that it covers over 80% of the browser window width is a bit disconcerting.

oh, and where's the map and calendar and all that stuff?

sorry if it sounds harsh...
