Evening

...Just had a bizarre and quite scary experience while cycling along one of the little side roads off the Bricklayers Arms near the Old Kent road.

2 guys, 1 girl & a pit-bull were walking along the pavement.Start of bad joke Out of no where the man with the dog runs into the road straight at me... almost pushes me off but then suddenly changes his mind in the last second and runs back to the pavement. I looked around while still going along & asked what that spivo performance was. All three start yelling at me 'that I nearly got my bike stolen', goading me to stop. I carried on and lamely shouted out that they were 'angry little people'... knowing that they would be clearly flustered by my witty retort and having learnt their lesson, I felt content to move along while keeping my head down wondering what I'd have done if I was pushed off my bike.

Well I just thought I'd share this as a reminder that bikes don't just get stolen while they're locked up, so it's probably best to start panicking and stop riding altogether.

pretty weird, a while ago there was a video of a guy hitting a woman off her bike while she was riding along the road he just came out of nowhere and clothes lined her, it was really disturbing, it was on the news.

That's you and stelle both nearly got their bikes robbed in the same way then.....is this the new way bike thieves are approaching their work?...definately time to be carrying your d-locks in an easy to reach pocket so you can knock a few teeth out!

last year i got kicked of my bike by 8 black guys at the end of my road they came out of nowhere i let them have it being a shit single speed beater (i wish it was fixed)
i followed them silently and saw them dump it over a fence i went back and got it the next day i called the police that night but they couldn't find them i got the bike back but that taught me to ride very fast down quiet roads in east dulwich/peckham.

I heard a story from a friend, who's friend (or friend's friend!?) was biking through Camden, when he went over a bridge and a group of kids ran up and pushed him off his bike, over the railing, into the canal! I don't remember if the bike went with him, or what. Still, if true, yikes.

I was talking to this white bus driver this morning, he told me his white supervisor had told him he couldn't have the afternoon off, he was going to meet his white friend Tony and go for a pint with their black friend Paul. But as his white supervisor had said that he couldn't have the afternoon off he had to phone his white wife up to ask her to call his white friend Tony and his black friend Paul to cancel the whole thing.

You know it's funny you mentioning this tonight because although my experience wasn't a bike snatch, I had a kinder similar scary situation also.
Booting it down Dog Kennel hill just passing E.Dulwich BR getting ready to do a right turn when on my left hand side there was a gang of rude boys hanging out at the bus stop Jeering/laughing so then one of them step out and goes to throw some sort of object at me hitting my arm leaving quite a sting.
I Was pretty pissed after because I really had no choice other than to carry on, hoping this thing I can see in his hand misses me, as that junction in itself pretty knarly enough to contend with there anyway.
Fuck knows what it was he was throwing - felt pretty hard whatever it was..

A couple of months back - I sat on my bike waiting for my girlfriend to emerge from Morrisons (34 vegetarian sausage rolls for £2.40 ! - P -A -R - T- Y !!) three young bastards strolled by and mentioned that they might come back and cut me up and 'theef' my bike because they wanted it.

What can you do ? Stupid little fuckers.

It's only be a matter of time before more bike thieves will realise value of some fixed gear bikes over 21 gear mountain bikes, especially selling down brick lane. Once theres a market they will nick them, just got to make people aware not to buy cos it's always supply and demand......keep eyes open as we do...
