There was chatter about this here: http://www.londonfgss.com/discussion/2896/?Focus=97458#Comment_97458

Jonny was going with mates and a few others had expressed interest. It's a maybe for Mal and I at the mo'.

From (poor) memory, the train ticket was £60ish and the ferry was maybe a tenner?

I think the ferry tickets vary quite a bit based on how early you book

You can get deals at diffrent time but without any voucher the Lymington crossing is about 20 quid. Lymington is quite a good one to sail from as you can get a train right to the ferry terminal. Otherwise it is Portmouth don't know how much that would be.

Nah pretty sure it is Portmoth for all ferries. Southampton just has loads of containerships come in.

Nah, I went to Isle of Wight festival from Southampton.. unless it has changed or they put those on specially for the festival? It was a fkn big boat though and there was a smaller, speedier, costlier option too..

I was typing that before you'd replied.

I just left it there because I'd spent all that time typing it.

Mal and me. You're the objects of the sentence. Remove 'Mal and' from the sentence to check sense:

*It's a maybe for I at the mo'. Obviously not.

Fuck you too ;)

you can get group tickets for the train. travel in groups of four. portsmouth from waterloo, rtn aroudn £35 each.

this year Team Etchingham are looking at at setting up camp in Lymington Bay. and just getting the day ferry direct into the checkpoint spot of yarmouth.

if a group are going i recommend the Tower House B&B in Ventnor where Team Etchingham have stayed the last 3 years

If you do give a dram, I'll happily quaff it. Especially if it's Ardbeg.

Plus one to Ardbeg - Islay all the way baby.

I just keep coming back to Ardbeg as 'the one'.

Like a bit of Ledaig (the peaty one from Tobermory) when I'm going non-Islay.

Have you been down Royal Mile Whiskies on Bloomsbury St (just off New Oxford St). There's always a dram of something or other at the counter, and they do some interesting Scottish ales too. I like 'Kelpie' the one made with seaweed :)

EDIT: Maybe single malt needs a thread of its own...

I want a bottle of Hedonism. Bought it for a mate's birthday but never tried it. It's meant to be great but I just love the name.
I've got some expensive blend in the cupboard.. might have to crack it open and mix it up with some diet coke and ice..

I saw a blend in Edinburgh for £10,000. Either someone must like 'em or it was the arrospok equivalent of whisky :)

I think I will stay with my fokes and get the ferry across from Lymington in the morning. With the added miles it should push me up to 200 km when coming from them. Not sure weather to do it fixed or not. I have not used my road bike in a long time so may use that. Would be good to meet up with some other people at least at the start though.

Seriously, Jonny, undulating like London-Cambridge or undulating like London-Brighton?

My in-laws are in Bournemouth, so I could get over for this one...
