I'm up for it dude! Will need to sort some stuff out quickly though i.e. lights and a gear shifter. Anyone have a 9 speed shimano shifter they don't want? I can't face doing it singlespeed after reading the course description - there's a 1.5 mile climb at the start of every lap!

I have a 10 watt (2x5) halogen setup you can borrow. I don't think it would last 6 hours on double beam though, I think that would be it's limit on single beam.

I won't be too worried about riding SS or not and yes about the lights, i never done anything similar before but i know you really need some good lights, shame they are so expensive :(

not sure with MM, but with sleepless, they had a min 10W requirement. although no one checks.

ive got two sets of cheapo smart lights. twin 15W SLA powered. havent used them for couple of years so im not sure if batteries are still good. grab em if you're desparate.

Thanks a lot for the offers guys - I have no idea about lights but it would be great if I could borrow some rather than forking out the cash. I think there'll be charging points and it's only dark from 9ish to about 4.30.

there is a 10w requirement for lights and you need two working lights, one to see one for back up. I'm going to bring enough lights to light a small town (I'm scared of the dark)

fatboyralph's lights sound better being 15w and all while as mine are only 10w but your welcome if you want and experiment / have a back up to borrow mine. If you want I'll put mine in my bag and you could pick up at central drink tomorrow?

FBR - would be great if I could borrow your lights too. When and where would be good to meet?

What beer, wine etc do you guys like? Want to sort out some "light rent"!

No problem worked from home today anyway. Tomorrow is cool. How about a quick one at East beers or if thats too far out of your way you can pick up from Euston area.

Both sound good, although it might be tough to stop for a beer as I've suddenly realised I have quite a bit to sort out before the weekend! How about six- ish around Euston and I'll carry on for a beer if I've got time?

Alright guys, the plans are starting to come together. Van is booked for Friday at 5.30 so I'll get my shit from Brixton, get Rob from Stockwell and then head west for Prav. Guess we will get there pretty late on Friday though. Has anyone got a road atlas?

The weather's looking a bit sketchy so waterproof stuff and mud tyres might be a good idea. How are we set for tents and stuff? I've got a small two man tent and a couple of festival chairs that I can bring. Anyone got something bigger or a gazebo? I can bring some tools and a pump, but it might be good to bring stuff and also things like spare cleats, cables, tubes, derailleurs etc if you've got them. I'm gonna bring every bit of clothing and pair of suitable socks i can find. Guess it will get kinda cold at night.

I've got a some energy drink and a few gels but we'll probably need more of that stuff cos i've probably just got enough for myself. I'm probably gonna bring food that can be eaten cold cos my stove is a bit tiny - anyone got something that can heat water for tea and pot noodles?

Final thing is a lot of baby wipes!

Good stuff mate! I have a road atlas / 2. satnav is for mugs! ;-)
I have two 2-man tents, sadly nothing that you can stand up in..
Clothing I shall bring everything + nappy rash cream.
I have baby wipes, and enough gels / bars.. only 6 hours riding, eh?
Roberto's massive tub of carbohydrate mix is with me.
Going to get lights from FBR tomorrow.
I'll bring: pair of wheels + pedals + tyre + 10 inner tubes as spares.
Way-hey!

Sounds good! I'll bring spare wheel, 29er tyres and a couple of tubes, SS kit and a spare chain. If the weather is crap then we can use the van for chilling and the tents for sleeping (or trying to)

Cheers guys - we'll represent hard even if none of us are riding SS. The forecast is for rain and I have heard lots of bad things about the Mayhem in the rain! Here's a pic from last year after it rained!

Have a ridiculous amount of clothes and food with me, so hopefully it'll be ok!

it was epic.

I did a lap at 3.30 am when the course was at its worst - at some points I was stopping every 15 metres to unclog the mud from my chainstays, brake bridge, and forks. ended up carrying / walking for 5-6 miles, and did 8.5 miles in 2h10! :-D
The sun and gales dried the course later, the mud became berms, and the morning was a lot more fun.
Many thanks for the good wishes, to all my teammates, and vb for this forum making it possible.

nice one! it was indeed an epic weekend,

i managed to get out of doing a night lap but did do an early morning one after drinking a copious amount of beer throughout the night. loadsa fun!

what bikes were you riding? i wonder if we crossed paths, i was riding for team singular (blue big wheeled singlespeed bikes)

did you see those mental unicyclists?

It was epic - I'm still knackered and ate my second breakfast half an hour ago. Great fun despite the mud and loss of ability on the off camber sections. My only regret is that I only had one beer on Saturday before falling asleep. Great to meet Pete and the rest of the Exeter crew - the support was so much help!

Tilover - I was riding a blue singular set up 1x9. I saw a few around so might have seen you.

Tommy - cheers for the lights. They were great and only got a little bit muddy. Can I meet up later on this week to give them back?
