| | Geneva 2010 Polo Euros Forwarded for the attn of those who swing a mallet Dear poloistas, As part of the London bid for the EHBPC 2009, we promised to hold a vote to decide which city would host the EHBPC 2010. We’re delighted that Geneva has put forward a bid on www.bikepolo.ca. We would like to do one final call for any other city to put forward a bid to host the Euros in 2010. There will then be a vote in which all regular European polo players can decide who will host. Even if there are no other bids, the vote will go ahead. In this way, the winning host city will know that their bid has the support of the European polo community, it will add legitimacy to the voting process as it develops for 2011, and will allow the winners to explain that their bid was voted for – something that we as 2009 organisers found useful with press and sponsors. Timeline: Any other bids to host the Euros in 2010 need to be submitted by Midnight CET on Saturday, 21st November. The cities who have put forward a bid will answer questions about their bids online up until Midnight CET on Tuesday 24th November. Voting will be open from Wednesday 25th November until midnight CET on Friday 27th November. The winner will be announced shortly afterwards. To vote on the location of the EHBPC 2010, you must: 1) Log in to bikepolo.ca (or create an account if you do not already have one at bikepolo.ca/user/register) 2) Since only players living in Europe will be voting, please fill out the location field while registering, or if you already have an account, in your account settings. 3) To vote, you must also join the "Europe" group before Saturday November 21st at 11:59pm CET, www.bikepolo.ca/club/europe. Between November 22nd and 24th, a member of the EHBPC 2009 committee will be confirming your membership to the group, and then you will be able to vote. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER IF YOU ARE NOT A REGULAR PLAYER IN EUROPE! The applications will be checked manually, so it will waste our time if you don’t play there regularly but try to join the Europe club. Cheers, Iain, Matt, Mike, and Roxy |

| | I am definitely down for attending. Keeping a close eye on the dates though, if they can be firmed up then I'm booking a ticket. It would probably bankrupt our mini-polo fund to hold the euros polo tournament. There are alot of costs upfront that someone has to make. Perhaps we can organise our summer tourney to happen a few weeks before Geneva to get everyone geared up. Also, we have alot of young upstarts that I reckon will be shit hot by the summer 2010, lets get a team night going to encourage these hooligans into organised team (blood) sport. |
