No good with the honjos as you'd need to run double stays which they don't use as they are more rigid than plastic ones. In addition, from the way they feel in the hand there'll be very little outward flex of the guard once fitted, so getting the wheel out of a bike with long track ends could be a little tricky. As luck would have it my rear hub is allen bolted so I'll probably just have to fully remove the bolts and let the wheel fall out.

Must fit mine this weekend, lovely fitting SP!

I meant wouldn't want to wreck them of course! Unfortunately, the way I have mine set up I'll have to deflate the rear tyre slightly to get the wheel out of the frame :(

That's easy, just get Harry Rowland to rebuild your wheel on a Phil hub, they come with allen bolts.

I should start a 'most cost-effective tips' thread.;)

They're a little tricky to get hold of, so when you've worked out whether you want them, get in touch with a guy called Frances Thurmer at http://www.cyclesplus.co.uk/. You have to phone him, no emails.

In fact veLLo might have pair he doesn't need anymore since a Holdsworth frame of his died :( ... but I may be wrong. Loic?

I had never thought of doing this when removing my (Phil road hub) wheel, genius. I'm getting to like you more and more Bobbydids.

Poor judge of character clearly.

As it happens you seem a rather nice fella yourself. I'm feeling an emotion I haven't had since post-p.e. lesson showers at midde school....

Shit happens

By the way, Cruds have very very tight fitting and don't want to stay in place as there's loads of flex.

I took some photos at last. Sorry for the delay. I'm no Superprecise in the photography stakes. And the bike is filthy from being ridden in all this rain. But that's why I fitted the mudguards. The only problem is I now have toe overlap from my too-big toeclips. I'll have to get some smaller ones. I think they look fine with 23s. Mind you the Stelvios are big 23s.

I clipped the stays. I wouldn't have been able to do the wheel-nuts up otherwise. Annoyingly my front eyes are a bigger drilling than the rears. No idea why, but luckily I had some bolts that just fit. I have left enough on the rear to account for putting a smaller cog on and moving the wheel back.

The guards were supplied with a good selection of fittings. They have a nifty replacement nut for the rear brake so you can screw the L-shaped bracket into it, but as I have no rear brake I just used a bolt and a Campag brake nut. The holes for the L-shaped bracket had to be marked and drilled but everything else was done.

Mr.CRUD fitted (I had to use an extra cable clip to fix it, as I don't have the rear brake)
