What an indignity, poor chap rides 120 miles and then stacks it in front of us at the final post.

Oh, i'd love to have a crack at this. Double my max, and never before fixed, plus I live out of town.
...but it sounds epic.

It was epic last year. This year I want much less epic.. much less epic. It will be a walk in the park this year, a sunny, pleasant walk in the park. Yes, that's right.

You realise we're all cursing it to piss down all night this time if we keep saying it can't be as hard as last year! I'll do my best to be there whatever.

I don't mind, really.

The worse the conditions the more rewarding the finish and the longer you'll tell the stories..

Did the Dynamo the last two years on 92" fixed.

First year was on a 2006 Langster, last year on a 2007 Fillmore.

Carrier bag over your Brooks will keep spray from soaking the saddle from underneath (ruined a Swallow not doing that the first year).

Use Hope Vision LED to light the way.

Cheers,

I did the Dynamo last year on a geared old Claud Butler which carried me all the way beautifully. I'm intending on doing it this year on my fixed gear but feeling slightly nervous. I've recently started riding the SOuth downs which is exhausting. Wrestling up the hills and riding like a maniac down the otherside! From what I can remember of the Dynamo last year, which has been pushed out by the memories of cold and wetness there weren't many epic hills. The last few hours were filled with Haribo gorging going to far NOrth cos I was to tired to argue about directions. Role on the Solstice

If you want a decent series of night rides you should check out the Friday night rides to the coast on the ACF rides forum. This would make a good intro to night riding if you don't fancy doing Dunwich as your first one.

wow just what I was looking for and didn't realize.

I am really loving night riding at the moment. Just rode from Ipswich to the top of the Norfolk Broads the other weekend. 80 miles in the dark and mist it was great fun. (If a little cold.)

brakeless with polo gearing is how I'm rocking it this year!

i'm up for doing it if i'm here, good chance i might not be.

i rode to colchester in the pouring rain a few weeks ago which is the halfway point. i was pretty knackered by that point so i reckon i might have to train it up a bit....

Train? Good thinking sheep. Go for a 20 mile ride on Wed, 30 miles on Thurs and 40 miles on Fri. Then you should be ready by Sat ;)

You got it bang on... Dunwich = One pub, one caff, one church, about ten houses, one very nice shingle beach (it used to be one of England's largest sea ports in around 14th century, but it has all been washed away by the sea... legend has it the old church's ghost-bell can be heard tolling from underwater half a mile out). A seaside town it is definitley not.

Dunwich is a dead town.

It's not far to Southwold - at least 6 more pubs, plenty of crabbing, wild samphire (seasonal), the pier, and the Adnams brewery.. mmmm!!

Quote:
ITV London - 6pm - Sunday 13th April.
A film of the 2007 Dunwich Dynamo, as part of the Tales from the Country programme.
Not sure how long the feature is though.. could be just a few shots of the rain and some lights. :-P

You missed out on a Brighton ride a fortnight ago, and a Southend ride last Saturday.
We have a ride to Cambridge planned for May 10th if you are up for it
