how about some sought of invisble string attached to a piece of cork that you put in your mouth, and someone pulls you up the hill ?
then you can use any old tyre

Here is the route I took to get there.

It was fun but a little challenging, there was me wondering how the fuck 18 mph was possible, Hosey, and Puddledock lanes were particularly fun. I am not sure I have ridden my bike that slowly.

Possibly a TNRC route? Should be done fixed.

Sorry to have missed the 8.45 CSG rendezvous - I awoke with a guinness/red wine hangover and coudn't get my act together, so headed down straight from home. Felt utterly crap for the first 10 miles (to about Biggin Hill) but then cheered up with the blast down Westerham Hill (where I can't coax my bike to go any faster than 44.7mph) and the climb up from Brasted to Ide Hill.

I perched myself up on the bank of Yorks Hill about 30 yards from the top, where I had a good view of the riders at the point where they can see the finish flag and the road starts to level off again. Met a few familiar faces and saw some forumenger types emerging from the woods on the other side of the lane. Saw some pain, some relief, some agonised weaving from some of the fixed riders and, above all, some amazing cycling outfits.

Blatted back over Polhill and on the A21 in to Bromley and home in time for lunch.

Good, challenging, day out for me. The route is definitely doable fixed, though probably more enjoyable when not trying to stay with everyone else riding geared.

Well done to the lads that raced, and nice to ride with everyone, guess I get the lanterne rouge for that one.

Big thanks to Arvy for practicing his domestique skills and keeping me company on the way back.

Some really nice pics in that selection Andy.

well done illy, claus and pilky all who put in great rides.

well done everyone else on rolling down there and back. seems everytime we go on a ride more people know where they are going, are better prepared and stronger. it's great.

this man's hat rocks! not sure about it in the rain though...

Quite a few are spoiled as they dropped far too early (20kg). There are a lot ready to come down, if I get a chance I'll bag some up for you. Should be able to manage 3 or 4 kg without missing them.

there are a few more pics on the londoncyclesport site.

well done to the others that rode, i was very very impressed by the times you all got! bit disappointed with mine, but i did already have two in the legs from the previous day so i shouldn't be too critical. thanks to all for the encouragement, it was a great feeling riding through that wall of sound.

i'm considering doing the dynamo climb next weekend at leith hill. anyone else entered it?

i rode michelin pro3 race at 80 psi, but tbh the pressure-drop made no difference at all - wish i'd had conti 4-season or similar. i slipped quite a few times, even though i sat in the saddle up until the last 25% section. hope it's dry next year, i have a score to settle...

Your 4 Seasons would've suffered a fatal sidewall explosion 1.43 minutes before your chosen start time.

It is the way of things.

I was on Pro3s too, FYI. 95psi. (I don't really do 'in the saddle').

BTW, andy, I'm not bothering with the Leith Hill event, but good luck if you do it.

Ricky's jersey has been washed, and I'll get it back to him soon. When am I getting my own one, and my t-shirt? I've paid my fucking money. It's worse than the Impsport debacle.

pro3 race, same as pilky, andy, bmmf, front 120 psi back 105 psi, slipped only towards the end of the 1st third, but then again there was probably less wattage on my pedal than on the ones of the other three riders as the finishing times clearly indicate.

That set of pics is from Graham Stacey another Catford CC member.
Here is a link to my [poorer set] photos;

I struggled not to get blurred shots under the trees there but got some better ones at the Bec in the afternoon.
Spotted some forum faces there but most had dissappeared by the time I got to the top apart from Scarlett.
Oh and apologies to Estelle who I thought was Agata :)

Just wanted to my thanks to the guys who organised this ride. Had a great day (even allowing for the deluge on the way back from Bec)
Good work all those who raced!

hey, that's Rene, not Graeme. The guy with the halo is omnipresent on every noteworthy hill, calmly watching - and chuckling inside.

A great event, nice to see the shots, shame about the weather closing in. Didn't post a terribly impressive time, but was shaking off the end of a bad-yet-pathetic cough and cold.

Scarlet, I was looking forward to putting a face to the name, I was your minute man, don't know what happened, but sorry you didn't make it.

Ah-ha Zed, didn't know you were about - I was a little jittery before the off - sorry my performance drifted into the mash. ...Or maybe it was the effortless, silent performance that went under the radar.

Winter training in RP + full moon rides back on (apart from the flipping deer cull coming up in Nov), be good to catch up.

Sorry not to have been there and said hello as I passed you ;)

Won't bore you with absentee details. Needless to say, I'm over the hill (at least the short sharp ones).

Good luck with the Leith climb, if you do it. I had the day booked off to ride, and the course reccyed and everything, but my season closure came a few weeks earlier than expected. You'll be fine if you can save a bit for the last section after the Coldharbour junction - that's the point at which to go feral :O
