Any idea how much and who would you suggest to build them? I suppose I've got about £200 to spend but could stretch a little. This would be for a fixed commuter/around town bike. Cheers.

I had a similar set of wheels as those suggested by RPM built recently but with Ambrosio Excellence rims rather than Open Pros and they cost me £240. They've been rock solid so far being used for the same purpose you require.

yeah, it's true.

can be a bonus on certain frames, especially road bikes.

but you know the whole chainline thing is a contentious issue anyway

I bought my rear wheel from Condor, just a standard build - mavic rims, suntour hub rebranded for condor - £70. Been riding it for a couple of years now, have had to retrue it now and again when I've had a crash but it has served me damned well.

I got a set of wheels from Pearson Cycles - pretty basic, was doing a cheap build on a frame i was kindly given, nothing special, but does the job and seem reliable - Generic Ambrosio hubs on Ambrosio rims for £120. Only needed something for riding to work and seemed a good price.

goldtec on cxp33, from betd
free build and spokes, works out just over £100 a wheel.
with dat funky chainline, get an EAI cog which will straighten it up a bit.
rock solid
