Hello all,

I'm in the process of building up my first fixed and wanted some opinion on what length of cranks to go for...

I've read about pedal strike and so 165mm cranks seem the way to go, but could I get away with 170mm? Ive seen a few on ebay that look nice, but is this foolish on a track frame?

Say hi if you see me around SE5 - I'm geared (for now) on a lurvely Reynolds 753 pug in blue.... Cheers, Cookie

seriously 170, 172.5 will be fine on any track frame. if you want to spend the extra because 165 is cooler then fine.

yeah, i like my 165s and yes they are cooler.

beware of some cranksets saying they are 165 but they are in fact 170 but with the pedal hole machined further up the crank. can't think of an example but i am sure i have come across this before

on track frame 170's are fine for the road...as track frames have higher bottom brackets

a conversion based on a road frame might lead to pedal strike difficulties.

Is there a problem associated with this, j?

Can't see the crank grounding before the pedal or anything daft.

Ugly, though.
