denton tx. but no, that is definitely a white quill stem. that the customer took off the bike to replace with a black stem riser and origin8 stem.

Shit, those are nice.

Now you have me thinking of single-speed + disc brake or even a rohlhoff.

I'm so indecisive. I know I want a bike for all seasons, travel, touring, some minor off-road (cobbles, bridleways, thames path) a real bike-for-life capable of all conditions and everything... but what form it takes I'm still going back and fro over. It keeps looking more like a randonneur + cross bike than a road or track bike.
they do those for disk, or non disk ends, would allow you to vertical drop outs (for mud guards) and still adjust chain line by moving the drop outs in the ends. you would get more movement then an EBB, and less weirdness. if your after a "bike for life" i would go for them, and a road/ touring geo and possibly get two forks one with a 45 degree rake for every day riding, and one that straight bladed for the track (to tighten up the geo a bit).

when i build my self a touring frame its getting those ends so i can do either fixed or geared touring depending on my mood and the type of ride.

Firstly, sorry to hijack the porn thread with my stoopid gold pedal obsession.

Cheers flickwg: I did see those, but sort of read 'user-serviceable' as 'a bit shit'. Reckon they'd stand up to vicious precipitation and muck?

I wouldn't try and race on the track and tour on the same frame, even with different forks. You're gonna need clearance for at least 35s + mudgurads at the front (big a-c measurement as well as 45mm rake) and back (long chainstays). Add in a more releaxed head and set tube angles and a slightly lower BB and I can't see the frame being any good on the track. Fixed gear on the road though would be awesome for long rides and light touring
