Carrying a bike 30miles - London Fixed-gear and Single-speed

i'm going to a very rural place in the mountains in north Carolina. there are no taxis, and the closest any bus goes is 30 miles away. while im at this small town i will be building 1 maybe 2 frames. any one think it would be possible to ride 1 or 2 frames 30mi in the mountains? how would you go about carrying the extra frame(s)

Er, why don't you bring all the bits as well, build them into complete bikes and ride them back with a few friends? I guess your friends would need to get there too.. i dunno. Why such an isolated place???

I'd ask a friendly local or local friend to loan their truck/ute/SUV/cyclistkillingmobile and burn rubber for 30mi.. :)
Failing that, have you seen Xtra Cycles? Do you know anyone that owns one? Or a bike trailer? Fsck carry two bikes is all I'm saying.

Just strap them to your bag? Although you mention mountains, which might not be ideal.

Strap them to your back. But as much fun as bikes are, that seems like an occassion when taking a van may be a better idea.

maybe a rear rack might be useful? like one frame on the rack, another on the bag. I used to have a halfords branded one like this:

Took a fair beating no problem.

I'm guessing there's going to be next to no traffic so any extra width isn't going to be any problem.

i've carried a frame in a chrome bag before, worked okay so long as i was careful to remember that i was wider than usual. two could probably be done if they were wrapped up so as not to scratch each other...

the only way i've ever carried a frame is the old over the shoulder round the neck way... serious pain in the ass

Buy a second hand car then sell it back when you leave!

Carry frames/wheels is such a pain as you know already... you might do it for 30 miles once just to try but don't think you will be happy to do it again!
