Hi. First time poster but a big fan of the forums.
I've been a commuting cyclist in London for ten years, and I want to try riding a FG bike.
I'm not a courier, just a media wanker type who wants to look like one, so the bike isn't going to get really harsh treatment.
I'm looking at this bike:
Charge Plug
It's a cheapo, but I wondered if you think it will get me from Finsbury park to the West End five times a week.

Any of you know anything about it?

Thanks

Hi fakenger35,

Welcome.

There is a whole thread about this bike here http://www.londonfgss.com/discussion...-plug/#Item_39

I own one, and do Wimbledon to Tower Bridge quite happily daily. Its a bit heavy but its nice and solid and fun to ride.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. It sounds like just what I want. I've never ridden really pricey bikes, so I won't notice the lower spec. kit, and the weight doesn't really bother me.
I'm getting one.

I'll get it from a local bike shop for local people if I can. Two Wheels Good is my local-est. Unless someone's going to tell me that they're crap. Can't fork out 'till the new year anyway. Any advice appreciated.

Two Wheels Good are fine for geared bikes, and they've recently started stocking fixed bikes, but I would go down to BLB and try a few out in the same price range. You are much more likely to return there further down the line becuase TWG doesn't stock a great deal of fixed stuff besides the off-the-peg bikes.

Oh, right. Ta.

So that'll be BLB near, erm... thingy.

Yeah, I usually go there for stuff.

Where is it again?

Thanks!

BLB = Brick Lane Bikes
And yeah, Two Wheels Good is my local bike shop too, but they're a miserable bunch of cunts in there, and they overcharge on pretty much everything IMO.

I was in BLB yesterday and they had a Plug in stock if you want to try one - had a couple of other off-the-peg bikes too. Plug looks great but it's heavier than I am. But it's way, way more fun to get a frame and build it up yourself - it's not hard and it needn't be more expensive.

Thanks Fatbloke
I'll try and get down there tomorow.
I would love to build a bike up from scratch, but I know it would end up taking too long, and I'd end up with a room full of half assembled bits and a cross wife.

Just like that time I decided I could fix the washing machine...
