| | Hello all. I'm currently riding a 29er. It's an On-One so set up as a MTB at the mo, (but with plenty of flexibility available) and with fat old off road tyres. Been riding the old bird for about two years now, but want to go fixed and want to go Road (shoddy left knee at 34!!!) gonna be commuting about 8 miles a day and 25+ at weekends. Having looked around and tried a few bikes the average rider seems to run 42-46 plus 16 to 18. but the bike is set up for 36-18 off roading. In short what are you riding and what do you recommend for a street rider with off road habits. I'm gonna throw Cyclo-cross style tires on there to balance out the mix. Please help. Great site!! |

| | Yadda, I'm gonna need some drop's to run 48*18- !!! AAAANNNnnndd, I saw a couple of guys in Richmond park recently, (I live nearish) (sweet steel bikes!!!), I have an old Raleigh Banana frame but it's a little small for me. good condition with all original stuff (except mech's). I'm 5,11Maybe 6', because it's short it's twitchy, is it worth fg'ing the On-One or should I go out and find a new bike for town? I'm confident enough to try most stuff. Is it more "pure" to build from scratch? Hell, sorry guys, maybe too many "beginner" questions. I wanna Ebay the perfect frame but if I can FG the 29er it will save creditcard burn (not to mention my Mrs' "you bought that as an all-rounder" comments) can I build a 29er into a good street bike? |

| | Cheers ASM, nothing too serious with the knee but it is a nagg. And! prefer larger pedal strokes. Spinning out loads on road at the moment. MA3K, Ratio is a calculation based on the amount of Effort exerted, multiplied by your "Must have" times your Effort plus your Cycling obsession times it's self. Not to mention your wish to stay with your current squeeze. R= E=MC'2 also known as "A third bloody bike?!" |
