Hello all, I'm going to be in Sydney for Christmas and New Year. Whilst I'm out there I'm going to get some deep V's (it being their motherland I'm assuming I can get them for cheap out there). I was wondering if anyone here knows of any good bike shops out there that may sell deep V's or that specialise in fixed gear? Also, has anyone had any bad experiences getting bike stuff back to the UK - bent rims, officious customs etc? Any advice much appreciated.

CTA do some blingy polished V's

And Kookie (if you are there long enough to receive post from Melbourne) are good for other bits.

Your saving grace is the fantastic exchange rate.
Have fun.

the only thing i warned fatboyralph, is that all international flights out of oz only allow ~21kgs of luggage and a certain size. so just be wary. you'd only save yourself £10 if lucky, which can be had finding stuff on ebay.

never heard of the 'certain size' restriction. the 20kg (or is that 25kg?) limit for any one luggage/box...some H&S issue from way back. cos baggage handlers in oz are bunch of lazy fat arse bastards with bad backs.

sht, lots happening in melb. tha jol. might just check out some of the BFF events

for Fixed stuff in Sydney your best bet would be Cheeky Transport / Cheeky Monkey
http://www.cheekytransport.com.au/
in Newtown just off King St street.

CBD Bikes in the City on Kent street sell a bit of track /fixed stuff - they stock a few Off the Shelf track /fixed, SS commuter bikes, Bianchi Pista, Kona, etc..

most of the other Bike Shops in Sydney don't seem to stock any fixed or track stuff.

oh wait there is a little place on Paramatta Rd with a Red and White sign 'Cycles' that may do some track stuff - although it seems more of 'serious roadie' shop.
