I really wanted to do this ride, particularly after reading Ricardo's post. Sadly I have a prior commitment at that time but will pause and think of you all and in particular Ricardo and Emma's family.

will phone you shortly RE printing Eterea, everythings going ok, i'm finalising the route tonight and doing a recce tomorrow night with a friend who is on the ride, got someone sorted for laminating and cutting the cards had a few problems with printing tho, been chatting to the bbc people, hopefully meeting a producer/director today, although now they're saying they might not be filming the actual ride, just the beginning and the end, and even that is not definite, kinda pissed as they said they were going to be filming it when we spoke the first couple of times, so trying to arrange the loan of a helmet/bullet cam so we can produce some kind of video memento for Emmas family and ricardo, worst case scenario I will pay for the hire of one myself.

Yes, doing the Route recce tonight with a couple of friends, wanted to have it dealt with sooner, but i've had to fit all this around my work, and in between sorting through just under 1700 wedding photo's, returning hire equipment at the crack of dawn monday morning after working through the whole weekend, the only time off I had this week was this morning which was spent dealing with BT sorting out the buggered phone line, and dropping off prints to Oval to get spokecards cut and laminated, then getting my ass to work, its gonna be a pretty simple route though so I can't forsee any problems.
Ride duration approximately 75-90 minutes with some words read from Emmas friends, and on behalf of Riccardo at the end of the ride back at the stone circle.

Hey guys!
Thanks for all of this.
Me and Emma's family are really grateful for what you are doing. The most important thing right now is that her life, and the life of all the people who died in the same way, don't have to be vain and worth the safety of the future London cyclists.
I will be on your side even if I'm not gonna be there.

I wrote something to read tomorrow. I sent it to Diana (Eterea09). There is something from me and also something wrote from her parents. There will probably be something also written from friends and cousins.
I spoke also to the BBC journalist few days ago. Didn't ask why her London colleagues didn't give the news of Emma's death, but I hope they will be a good job.
Safe ride guys

Riccardo

After much messing around from the producer the BBC said earlier today that they won't be filming at the ride, however I have managed to borrow a Contour HD bullet cam off of Sano on here, which means we will still get a high quality recording of this ride and everything that happens regardless, I hope thats of some consolation, anyway it looks to be a good turnout so hopefully it should all go well.

P.S. After doing a Recce of the route tonight, I think we will have the words etc from Emma's friends and on behalf of Riccardo read at the site of the accident, there is enough space for a group of a 100 or so to assemble there safely off of the road.

Thanks again to James for sorting out this ride. I think it's important that we get out on the roads as a group to raise awareness of this issue as much as possible. These fatalities are tragically avoidable.

RIP Emma.

A big thank you to everyone that braved the weather today to join us on this ride, I applaud you. I'm glad that so many of us came to remember a fellow fallen cyclist, it was a somber occasion, but one that ended pleasantly with a few drinks and some chat among friends.

Special Thanks go to:
Keepsake (Aidy) for printing and prompt delivery of spoke cards
Sano (Ian) for the loan of a HD bullet cam to record the ride
Eterea09 (Diana, Emmas friend) for laminating and printing of spoke cards
Pepperoni (my good friend Marco) for helping with the route, and generally being a good mate, cheers dude :)

RIP Emma, I hope we gave you the send off that you deserve.

+2 thanks again James, good to see a big turnout and to put a few faces to names. My father in law runs a haulage company and this has spurred me on to find out if and what kind of awareness his drivers have of cyclists. I'll post a thread with what I find out but I'm afraid it'll be chilling for us. From what I can gather most of his time is spent dealing with insurance companies. He's a good guy though, so it would be good to start some sort of awareness campaign for drivers and cyclists alike.

RIP Emma.
