Isn't it OK to do stuff to whatever you like if it's yours and not living? If I own a bike, if one night I'm feeling lonely, I don't expect to not be able to 'use' it for fear of being put on the sex offenders register. It seems a bit extreme.

i don't the objection was to his bike-humping, i think that the offense was probably the fact that he was doing it in a (presumably shared/semi-public?) hostel room, and continued to do it in front of the housekeepers, or whoever it was. this is my guess. bikehumping in privacy, with a consenting bicycle, is probably legal.
