Garage Rock, Psych, DIY and on and on!

If you love The Saints, The Sonics or The Real Kids. If you think The Silver Apples and Suicide are trancendent gods from another world (teenslain;)), If you love Howling Wolf, Furry Lewis and Bo Diddly, if you obsessivley collect small DIY punk rock bands on labels so small they are gone before the record ever comes out, then this is your thread.

There is more Rock & Roll, Psych, Soul and Blues out in the world than we will ever hear in a life time, old and new. This thread is a show and tell for discovering and showing off all the obscure and forgotten, old and new bands, labels, radio shows, gigs and records that everyone should know but doesnt. I don't know if there are enough people here to keep this thread rolling but hey ho lets go!

Hell Yeah! Mr. Airplane Man! Margaret and Tara, two of the nicest rock n' roll girls I ever met! Margaret is a mom now, I'm sure she's still rockin' though, and tara is playing drums with The Turpentine Brothers I think.

Good man! you made my day!

This is what I'm talking about, I've never heard Electric Eels before. They're amazing! New discovery #1! Thanks!

I'll return the favor with some Simply Saucer!

Bought the three albums and ep off them at the end of one of the gigs, had a quick chat seemed like nice people. Not heard of the Turpentine Brothers, will check 'em out.

Anyhoo, we need some Billy Childish on the first page. Love his cover of Fire

Seeing the Metal Urbain vid I went looking for some Dr Mix and the Remix (who Metal Urbain turned into), can't find anything unfortunately. Their Wall of Noise is amazing; if you like fuzzed-out, electronic, noise pop.

Anyway, here's some Acid Eater, from Japan.

YouTube - ACID EATER
edit. It seems that the video isn't embeding, oh well.

A friends dad (really nice guy, became social worker)was the guitarist for a leicester based band called Gypsy, and also Legay.

The bits ive heard of them are bloody awesome, id love to hear some more/see vids but all their stuff has been out of print for years. And ive lost contact with this friend. They also look uber-hip in old photos.

They made it on top of the pops and got quite big. There most well know song had the the chorus "nooo body loves you, Iiii-do Iii-do"

I used to listen to solely garage rock a few years back.

Standout bands for me are the Dirtbombs, the Deadly Snakes and the Soledad Brothers.

Ooooh! Here's a good one. One I'm in! So the band is The Choke, they are friends of mine. Before the show, Cameron the singer asked me to jump up on stage and pretend to attack her at a certain point in the song. It was supposed to be funny, but It ended up looking like I was really beating the shit out of her! Oops? Well as you will see as soon as I got up there a whole ton of guys jumped on me and dragged me outside the bar to beat the crap out of me! I managed to talk my way out of it and Cameron had to vouch that it was all fake before the hate rays were taken off me. You have to watch closely or you will miss it! You can see me throwing fake punches that dont look very fake I'm afraid?! Fun night out though!

You can still get their records and but they are out of print for sure. Not that expensive either.

There are very few references to them online. Here's one blurb I found.

^ I still have a Pandoras single at home somewhere... I really wanted to meet them when I was a kid...

Here's a band I was in (much later on)... These guys were my favourite band as a teen, then they randomly showed up in the UK! Mana from Heaven... No one could fuck with The Scientists, I've seen many bands try but not one could blow them offstage...

The Pandoras were amazing, part of the same scene as The Three O'clock, The Long Ryders, Tater Totz etc. It was dubbed "The Paisley Underground" L.A. was shitloads of fun in the early 80's.
