Went down the auto-spray path as the areas of filler i used wouldnt take the oven treatment.
A bit more pricey but colour selection was ultra extensive and finish is more chip resistant that the powdercoat so in theory should hold out for longer.

powdercoating are already quite chip resistant, I find it quite hard to try and stratch it off the bike frankly, so I can't tell whether that is more or less resistance.

I got the girlfriends done in mint green (RAL 6019 I think) with metallic laquer, which is as close to metalflake as you will get at Armortex, Dayno... Certainly aint NJS style triple flaked glitter bomb effect, if that's what you were angling after!

The metallic glitter / flakes are pretty small, and defo show up / work better on her green, than they do on a lighter colour. i.e. my white frame.

my girlfreind dropped a cast iron frying pan on the chain stay of my armourtexed bike.........not a scratch.
but i told her it was ruined, and made her feel guilty for a week until she learned her lesson.

i've seen powdercoated frames with huge dents in them before, and the powder hasn't even chiped.

Got no chips, but did suffer cable rub on my s/s bitsa which our lass now rides on the trainer as an exercise bike. Planning on braking up and selling, need more space in the flat and I have a £1500 MTB gathering dust, gonna stick a slick on the back and she can use that to exercise on. So might have some wheels and bits to flog soon.

this was done back home. you can choose metallic colours, rather than the sparkle, the metallic doesn't seem to soften the lugs so much

What is the £45 minimum charge per colour about? If I want to get my rim done (w/ making tape over spokes etc) will it be £15 + £45 or just circa £15?

Just one rim will be £45 no matter what. Buddy up with someone who wants bits resprayed in the same colour.

Yeah thats the one. The thing is I am the most impatient person in History. I missed the Brighton overnighter because I didnt have any wheels and it killed me a bit inside. I dont think I can last any longer w/o having a bike. Ive been having to take the bus lately and its horrible.

Waiting for the paint to dry would drive me nuts I'd probably just whip it on to my bike and fuck up the paintwork as I only have one front wheel.

anyway. Im thinking Orange front rim on a Dark Blue Peugeot. =)

are you sure that's a powdercoat? cause the coat seemed pretty thin for a powdercoat.

yes i'm sure. have you ever tried touching up a paint chip on metallic paint, it tends to sink into chip.

Just dropped my frame in this morning - I was interested in RAL1016 but on their colour chart it's very yellow (I hoped it might be a bit more greeny yellow). Colours do seem quite different so go with an open mind. I've gone 2008 with metalic clear coat - frame fork and bars. I'll post pic's next week
