| | Forgot to add my latest bike to this thread after sticking pics of it in Current Projects...RAL 5015, with metallic sparkle lacquer (future use of this colour has now been outlawed). Forks and handlebars rattle-canned in plastikote by yours truly. Click on the link for a bigger picture, sorry not the best image quality... ![]() http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3385/...74301579_b.jpg |

| | be warned when i went in there they didnt have all colours in all finish the colour i wanted was only in matt and i ended up with a compromise in satin which was fine cause i didnt have my heart too set on anything I chatted to the guy a little and he said once sprayed if you take it away they wont laquer it just because it is too hard to get it clean enough again for the lacquer to adhere properly so i am going to pick out the lugs chuck some home made decals on and then lacquer it myself and he said i would do best to use poly urethane based paint and also lacquer but always make sure both paint and lacquer have the same bas ingriediant. I did a lil research of my own and it seems poly urethane laquer drys far harder than standard because it is basically liquid plastic. Picking the bike up tommorow i went for a deep blue grey (cant remember the RAL code) with white lugs it should look sick photos soon |

| | When i was in their last (i seem to be going weekly at the mo!) i enquired if they had anyone who could do pinstripeing, or lug lining , and they said they had tried it a couple of times, but didnt have great success. I suggested it might be worth having an arrangement with someone to do it for them |

| | I used to work for Raleigh back in the 90's, when they actualy made bikes & we used to get our bikes & any old stuff run through the paint shop. I got to know the paint chemist very well &he would come out with some crazy colours. These guys are putting out some nice stuff though, a good powdercoater is hard to come by, a bit far to travel from the midlands though. . |

| | updates on getting powder coat then paint, all this is also on another thread but i think it will help to put it up here if you get armourtex to powder coat and not lacquer you can highlight lugs best with either sign writers paint (one shot enamel paint) or hobby paint such as humbrol enamel paint available from model shops (one in camden called hobby stores) you can then just use this and a paint brush there was also a suggestion of filling a paint pen with enamel paint this could be easier than a paint brush dont worry about lacquer as the powder coat is strong enough with out it and some one said that spray lacquer will make the enamel paint blister i will put picks up of my efforts soon |
