| | RAL 1035 metallic finish I'm very happy with it, I think it is kind of greenish gray with a little gold. My wife says it is taupey-gray. ![]() http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3..._4385Large.jpg |

| | Cheers dude! After the what Carlos said I think I need to get those rivets off you. I broke these putting them back in. Did you get this kind (I don't know the technical name): ![]() Quote:
I was not going to stick any decals originally, but now that I've seen how nice it looks I think I have to. I Nitromor'd the original paint and oversprays down to the "HOLDSWORTH" logo so I have an idea what to look for. And I'm envious of your 531 Awesome. I love your colour too by the way! Cheers! Errrr, probably not. The frame was pretty beat up when I got it (you can see the dent in the top tube on one of the photos). I had intended on doing as little as possible to it but felt that without a paint job it would annoy me too much. Slippery slope...

| | That's called 'split pin' use to clip soft material but good idea. If you want more secure fix, use solid rivet(but much thinner) like this. http://www.sapphireproducts.co.uk/4620t5.htm There should be alu, copper, brass ones and various length and diameter. May be alu is easy to use. And buy these rivet snap (not the simple punch. snap has negative spherical shape at the top) which should be suitable size for the rivet. http://www.toolshopdirect.co.uk/shop.php/tools/Priory To use it, you need solid steel round bar or equivalent slightly thinner than the head tube but long enough so that you can fix the bar with vice or, steady table with c clamp. Put the rivet from inside the head tube, through the badge, put the head tube with the bits through the steel bar and rest on it. SO that the rivet is pushed against the steel bar. Then hammer the head of the rivet with the punch, till the head become round like mushroom, and secure the badge. You ve got hammer very carefully and slowly so that you don't damage the badge. I recommend to do a test before you try on the real. Hope I m making sense. If you are on a budget, simply buy alu bar or equivalent in desired diameter, cut it short, hammer it to make your own rivet and use it. |

Before I delivered the F&F, I protected headtube and BB-shell with big steel spacers (M12 / M16), kept together with a threaded rod and nuts. This protected the sides of the headtube and the BB shell well. Unfortunately, the paintshop removed the washers fron the head tube, because they had to hang the frame somehow. :-( Anyway, the BB shell came out very clean and the headtube had some paint. I could easily remove this with a file. Same for the inside of the seat tube. Before I removed the washers, I cut the painted edges with a hobby knife, to avoid that I would damage the paint when taking off the washers. The top of the threaded steerer tube,I covered with masking tape. Also worked well.

all parts are going to be silver. got the fork from NJS Export not because it was a 3Rensho, but because it was the only one I found that I thought that would go well (aesthetically) with the frame. the fork was $120, and I bought the Pista 2nd hand for 400€ (before knowing what the Pistadex was, etc.).

| | Anyone ever get issues with stability of colour on powder coat? I had an alu frame done signal red which for the first week was red, but now I am sure it is more of an orangey red. Must be a trick of the light I guess but my eyes feel like they are deceiving me! Wouldn't surprise me if something went wrong as the place I took it to didn't turn out great. The plus side is it was only £30, with the downside being you get what you pay for (took 3 weeks even though said it would be a couple of days, had to paint stripper BB, Headset as they didn't cover as they said they would, and it has a few areas which are not smooth) Just put it down as a loss as the place seemed a bit back street and not really worth arguing with if you know what I mean, plus I wanted to get bike back on the road. |
