Has anyone suggested this? Although I live a 2 min ride from Herne Hill and still haven't done my induction and I'm 40 and well outta shape, I think it'd be an awesome thing...
BBQ after, good times with fellow 'spaz about bikes' folk on the grass... Possible party at my place after... The flat I rent has the biggest, most beautiful garden in Brixton...
Bonne idee, non? After-party subject to landlord...
Good to plan ahead...
Joe :-)
PS Realise I still (love italics) haven't met any of you guys and you could all be a buncha freaks, but I can feel the love...
Anyone interested in organising such a thing?
Is there an audience for it?

I think it could be a good idea, could have the after part in a pub if you want so as not to have aflat full of freaks tramping round your home.

they didn't...it was a club promotion essentially and I am in the club that manages HH, of course had the event gone ahead the track time would have been paid for at the standard rates which are...£35 per hour I think....speak to them nicely and that might include bike and helmet hire for those who don't have their own.....

Myself and Big Al have organised three track days for couriers (www.addicts.tv) and they are great fun, so go for it.

Just emailed the Herne Hill head honcho (thanks for the tip Winston), I've asked him if there's a free Sunday in late April/May, if he'll let us use their bikes (for those that need them) and if we can have an induction pre-event for those that haven't ridden there before (like me! I've only ever spectated at HH)...

Let's see what he says, we'll take it from there... :-)

We did four hours track time with about 40 riders, you'll need a coach, we use one coach and three assisitants (non-qualified, experienced track racers)

I'm sure between us, we should know at least three experienced trackies, eh winston?

even if they are slightly "generous" with their ability to turn up on time at a given location

Hmmm, Spring 2008 - let me check my academic schedule...

... it seems I will be a hypertense, sleep-deprived, overweight, substance-dependent, clinical/exam droid.

So, I'll come and watch and bore spectators with how "I used to be that fast", and "have they got any rocks to sell".

Finally got a reply from the big cheese at Herne Hill over the weekend and he says YES! There are a few slots, any preference? The later in May the better I reckon...
Induction and use of HH bikes and helmets not a problem... Don't know about prices yet, gonna call him today...
People still up for this? :D
