| | My coach sent me a knew training plan.. geared for trackies I'm to adapt it.. you lot might find it useful.. Nov: Drink beer, think about lifting weights. Ride when you no longer fit your XL skinsuit. Dec: Drink beer, lift weights, buy XXL skinsuit Jan: Think about giving up beer and weights when the XXL skinsuit no longer fits. Start roller workouts to get "smooth" while your gut bounces on your quads Feb: OMGWTF quit drinking beer, lift wieghts harder, go do the group ride on Sundays (and get dropped) - the season is almost here! Mar: Starvation diet, 4x per week gym session, ride ride ride - get the track bike ready Apr: track is open - wear a girdle under the XL skinsuit so that people don't see your gut bouncing on quads May: 6 months to nats - figure how many # per week you need to lose to be at "race weight" for nats June: 5 months to nats - attempt to go fast July: 4 months to nats - attempt harder to go fast. Re-figure weight loss per week calculations for the weight you didn't lose in May / June. Aug: 3 months to Nats. Oh, wait, Nats is the first week of Oct. %&@(@Y# !!!! OMGWTFBBQ! *2* months to nats. Re-figure wieght loss equations AGAIN. Start motorpacing to go fast. Sept: 1 month to nats - start "fine tuning" - eliminate donuts, beer, pizza (wait, pizza? NFW!) and every food with fat, sugar or carbohydrates in order to make "target weight". Buy ear plugs to muffle deafening sound of grumbling stomach. Oct: Nats is here? Nats is here! Go fast! Miss goal weight by 1 pound. Swear on all that's holy to do better on the diet next year. Nov: Drink beer... from: http://fixedgearfever.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4458 |

| | Who wants to organise the races? Do we go mixed heats, separate mens and wimmins, fancy dress/non-fancy dress? I've only ever spectated at HH so don't know the first thing about it... Winston? Caspar? Anyone else? I'll ask down at Brixton Cycles too, they put stuff on down there all the time... |

| | the programme for the last of the three Courier Track Days that myself and Big Al of Brixton organised at HH is here: http://www.addicts.tv/3prog.html if as many people who have put their name on the list actually turn up, you'll need a lot of track time to offer a decent varied programme, especially if you or the coaches think that there should be some sort of induction / safety coaching and warm-ups on the day. If a significant amount of people don't have genuine track experience then this will be essential and you may as well get everyone to do it...will give the novices good practise group riding with more experienced riders. Individual events (flying lap, pursuit) or events with low numbers in heats (sprints, team pursuit) mop up a hell of a lot of time if all riders want to try (if you had sixty riders doing a flying lap it would take well over two hours).....best to have lots of mass start races (different distance scratches, points, winout, dashes, australian / italian pursuit) so that all riders get lots of races....of course this brings in safety issues, so if you have a large field, split into two groups or have two heats and a final......avoid the devil (elimination) can be very scary and dangerous and causes most crashes amongst less experienced riders. We kept the flying lap in the Speed, Skill and Sausages programme at the specific request of couriers wanting to see who the fastest rider was..... Keep in touch with Pete and your coaches for the day and they will offer good advice too.... I'd love to attend on the day and will try to come, but it's very soon after the birth of my expected son...so not too sure. |
