London Fixed-gear and Single-speed SJS Cycles

Gutted I can't join in, but I don't want to risk being a sore wreck on my main summer holiday. Up for doing it with a small group before the end of summer though.

Two water bottles, a pair of bags strapped to the frame.
The freestyler is turning into a plug tourer..

It will be easier by far.

1) less climbing over double that distance.
2) less obstruction to setting a good pace once into the Epping Forest
3) tailwind all the way
4) the benefits of night riding
5) the spur of there being no back up (this is only worrying until the point of no return (either Sudbury or 11pm, whichever comes first) after that until you get to 8am or the beach, stopping means no more food and sleeping outdoors.

Yeah, defo if you're not used to them they can be evil and I would avoid them.
Also, they're only really meant for intense exercise when eating normal food isn't possible or light-weight bonk saver/hunger-flat killer. There should be no need for them on DD. Solid foods are better for you and make you feel 'better', ie. your morale is up when you have a full tummy.

Now I'm fed up.
Tomorrow I was due to ride to Ilford to meet my mate and then onwards to Hackney to start the ride.
My mate phoned me this afternoon to tell me his bike has been nicked and he can't come. It was a Specialized Sequoia which he has only just bought about three weeks ago ready to do the DD, it was taken from somewhere in south London and he is as gutted as they come. Unfortunately don't have a pic to post so chances of seeing it again are slim to none.
I still am planning to go though but as I live in Braintree and cannot get a lift back I am going to wait in Finchingfield and when people come past I am going to join the ride then ride back to Braintree in the morning.
This means I am going to be coming on the ride knowing nobody so hope to maybe bump into some of you on here to chat to on the way.

Oh arsicles. My mate Andy's penny is unwell. We spent most of the afternoon fettling it to within an inch of its life, but it still feels the need to spit its cranks off every couple of miles. And the special pedals it uses are Donald Ducked.
