| | Stumbled across this photo set today. Cyclists trying to get up a 25% gradient hill. Westernport Wall And I thought Ditchling was tough... |

| | I didn't get it at first. "Why are these people using tribars for a hillclimb?"; "Why all the falling off when they're in their lowest gear?"; "What's with some of the homo-erotic outfits?" Then it dawned on me... TRIATHLON! Climb looks like a piece of piss, but not in the middle of a half-ironman I suppose ;P |

| | 1 in 4 (25%) is definitely steep. They're falling off cos they lose all faith in their ability to go any further just as they get to the deadspot in their pedal stroke. Then they stall. It's all so confusing, they forget to unclip. Then they fall. And they're triathletes. I don't wish to generalize, but they specialize in riding in a straight line very fast on the flat, and don't do clipping in/(out), cos they have their shoes already attached to the pedals. |
