Names And Faces To Bikes In Dublin

It worked on the main forum so why not here?
So by the name of the thread you can guess that you give your name and a picture of yourself and your bike(s).
I will get a picture up later.

Yo!

I'm guessing these questions are aimed at me:
That the Fuji you've got there?
But flat pedals?
Where's that pic man?? Also what bag have you got on there?

Flat peddles FTW, as Sheldon says, flat peddle riding a fixed is for advanced riders, you get more of a zen feeling etc. bollox.

Yeah its a fuji.
The frame accented by bar tape wrapped around the frame, some insulation tape and plenty or parcel tape to give it the ultimate "I'm not worth robbing" look, which will be all the rage in 09.

The pic was taken at the nottinghill Carnival, the 2 girls are ex college mates.
The bag is a chrome Metro. Jeans by Carhart, with t-shirt from PetroChemical Accelerator (Now Killface) and DC runners all set off by a bike chain by abus. hahaha

Peace!

Picture is of the bag, I don't know why.

I dont actually spend much time on boards, I dont think there is enough emphasis on fg & ss, imho I think that nearly all of it is kinda cuntish very race orientated gear heads.

There are some people well into their racing alright, but there is loads of posting about fg & ss on it, at this moment in time on the first page there's posts about flip-flop hubs, a newbie fixie post, tiny's post about his new build, and mr skeffington's post selling off parts from a kona paddywagon (and elsewhere), amongst other threads. The benefit of the boards.ie forum (not to knock this one, I know its only just startin up!) is that you get a load of different types of rider contributing their knowledge, so everyone feeds off each other, and even though I've zero interest in the pro racing end of things, I've never found anyone to be 'cuntish' at all, there's a really positive atmosphere on it, especially with newbies. They organise their own outings, got a jersey together, had Christmas drinks, and a couple of times when people were ordering fixie parts from wheelandsprocket (eBay US) we all put our money in one order so we'd save on postage. Its the definition of a good online community IMHO...

Here's some recent threads that might interest people here:

The "Anything but A Factory Job" Fixie Owners Club - boards.ie
uglification project. not exactly going according to plan... - boards.ie
Recommend me a singlespeed/fixie - boards.ie
Project Fixie Fun - boards.ie

I'm one of them cuntish race oriented guys, and I come over here :)

I do get what you mean though, it is a bit more road oriented, but there's plenty of fixed and ss riders, and plenty of discussion on the topics. So there's less swearing, and mabe more helping of newbies on boards, but hey, that's just the friendly Irish, right :)

And on this forum dont be afraid to ask questions as a newb, you might get some HTFU's and a few inverse shims but we all have to entertain ourselves somehow when we arent riding.:D

For my money, Boards is a better forum. The people there are really nice folks, they don't care about what you ride so long as you do ride. I've met a few of them, bought things and lent tools to them and they're just stand up folk. Can't argue with that.
