Overtaking lines of stationary traffic and seeing the massive queues at bus stops is particularly gratifying. I arrived at worth this morning bathing in a metaphorical jacuzzi of smugness (in addition to the usual sweat - don't worry; we have showers at work).

The strike-day cyclists were a bit of a liability today, though: I passed a lot of people weaving unfamiliarly along the road. I don't begrudge them, though: in fact, I hope that some of them like it enough to take up cycling to work regularly.

I also love hearing the click-click of a derailleur behind me as I accelerate over a bridge on my one gear.

I love to HATE.

The first ride after giving the bike a bit of a clean / service: the chain is shiny and at perfect tension, the whole drive train is silent and you just fly along.
