Bad luck - out of interest, how was it locked up?

Hope you get it back, and your face heals up nicely.

Damn man! That blows! I think we should hunt down and kill all Langster riders just to make sure you are avenged :)

I think you should change your name to "Yesterday Destroyed Me".

The face'll be fine after a long weekend of drinking in the west country (I don't mean Acton). At the moment I'm thinking about how to spend 500 quid of insurance. The bike was locked to a lamp post with one of these but it had the plastic covering. It went with the bike.

Might have to get a nice new/old steel frame?

Oh well, at least you get a pay-out on your insurance. Must've been keen to cut through that lock.
Have fun in the West Country...

Double bummer DDM. Good that you were well insured though, dont spend it all on beer. Any identifying features on the Langster ? Usually the f&ckwits that nickem are too dim to alter the recognisable features!

It's busy in Holborn at lunch time so I think whoever it was must have somehow picked the lock.

Just spoke to the insurance company and I should be ok. I'll let you know what I spunk the cash on.

Old, old story.
Some malicious person swiped my seat. No matter that it was cut and slashed with knives already, so basically has nil resale value.
Anybody got a lead on sourcing a cheap/free seat and 25mm stem?
I am checking out all the skips come across of course.
The bike only cost £20 but it does the job, so the seat has to cost max a fiver, or I bin the whole thing and find another.

My gf just got home and said she saw two guys using 4ft-long bolt-cutters to take a bike from near Greenford station.
She asked them if it was there's and they told her to get lost - obviously she's not gonna go further with her interrogation being a lone female!
This was happening 20m away from the bus station opposite Greenford Station.. with plenty of people around..

Yeah but she's not going to achieve much.. two guys, one big one.
20 people at nearby bus-stop didn't deter them, she's not going to.
Maybe I should buy her an AK47 for her next commute?

you can have either of the saddles in the "SS wheels and bits thread" (don't really know how to link to it sorry) if they're of any use.
had the same done to me on 3 occasions, it's irritating to say the least.

Hippy, that is a great looking saddle, and would put to shame the rest of the machine!
If I don't find one off a wrecker this weekend I will have it, if it fits my frame and budget.
Thanks for the kind offer.

1bhp, I looked and looked, but can't find "SS Wheels and bits"…

My approach to avoiding the attentions of thieves is to slip under the radar if possible.
Consequently my bike works perfectly fine, thank you, and looks like a pile of crap.
That is why I am so pissed that someone stole something off it which was worthless. I made a search of all the bins and light wells nearby, I half expected to find it just tossed away.

the stalls which have licences are reasonably legit. brick lane bikes started off as a market stall, after all.

there are lots of randoms selling bits from blankets rolled out on the side of the road, and they aren't.

ditto full bikes - places which have permanent premises tend to be more legit (though far from guaranteed) than random blokes wandering around trying to offload single bikes (of which there are several, none legit).

if you want to buy random cheap/old/scuffed to fcuk second hand parts it's okay. but anything that looks too much of a bargain is probably stolen.
