So this morning I'm spinning down Archway Road and a fair old clip when my left pedal (cheapy eggbeater) decides to seize up. Instead of unclipping somehow it actually managed to slightly damage the thread of my crank and come off still clipped into my foot.

I didn't look my coolest or most nonchalant cycling the rest of the way into work with just my right foot. Although I've gained an extra respect for one-legged cyclists. And a slight limp.

Got platforms at home I can use as a stop-gap, but anyone got any eggbeaters for sale?

Sounds more like the pedal wasn't tightened properly or the crank threads were fucked to begin with.

yeah i just kinda fell into using them and now i'm so used to them I don't want to change. I fear change. Or lamely toppling over at the lights...

You've used clipless though.. it's unlikely you'll topple since you know you're clipped in.
I'd rather topple at lights than unclip skidding towards a van or something..

You need something that you can stay At(t)ached to...

i have some Eggbeater SLs you can buy, 30 quid.

I don't like the SLs. I prefer the STRs in red..
