Hi guys, I don't post much but am always reading and wonder if anyone can help me out.

Yeah nothing to do with fgss but I hope at least one person on here might have a pair of Shimano 8 speed down tube shifters they don't need? Collected an ebay won full '89 Mercks Strada bike yesterday that the owner has put Shimano integrated brake/ shifters on. Would be good to restore some of it's period charm as right now that is being obscured. Didn't think they would be as difficult to find without spending £25 on new ones.

Help or leads greatly appreciated, thanks

Thanks but the frame has brazed mounts and it's an 8 speed block, not sure they'd work.

I can chop them off with an angle grinder, file and sand it down... 15 mins job.

Sorry to hijack this.. but vinylpimp - do you have any more of that same groupset? I am after some cranks / brakes if possible.
And please dont do any grinding to that lovely frame. :-!

Oh, just checked, you can unscrew them to fit on a brazed mount.

So sorry Parveen, I sold the crank yesterday for £20....

Still have the whole gear set though.

I bought the derailleurs, shifters already - just need the brakes + hubs + cranks + ..

They're really nice, bit early though so might look out of place. Assumed you were talking about the shifter band, yeah help me grind off the braze-ons...... when I turn mental. Ta though.
