Do you have a chainwhip- and if so is it the correct one for the chain- i.e. you are not using a 3/32 whip on a 1/8 chain?

i did not have a chain whip, i first tryed riding it and locking up the back wheel, but it just skidded, then i tryed a hammer!

^^ @Pedz, you've got to change the saddle, it's the worst thing on the bike and hence the first thing I changed.

@Wallie, I had the same trouble with mine (as have lots of people). I broke a chain whip as well as cutting up my hands etc. Then I used reverse rotafix (search on here or google) and it came loose in a second. I cursed myself for not doing it in the first place, I'll never use a chain whip again.

I'd prefer to use a chainwhip personally- I think rotafixing is for when you don't have access to a chainwhip/emergency use.

The design of the chainwhip can make a big difference that said- some are better than others.

^^ Why? Rotafix doesn't do any damage if you wrap the bits of frame in contact with chain in an old t-shirt. Unless anyone knows otherwise?

Getting a stubborn sproket off with even a very good chain whip can still be a struggle whereas Rotafix is just so easy.

Yeah I snapped a link on my chain tool trying to get it off, took it to a bike shop and it took two blokes a big chain tool and a pole to get it off.

Yeah think it' will have to go soon as it's started to rip already.
Not found it too bad to ride on but I only ride 5 miles each way to work.

Cane Creek Lever
Better tyres (Armadillos??)
18t cassette to commute..

Plus I like the look of some soma major taylor bars with black tape.. but need to shop elsewhere..

Any thoughts? - will end up costing about 280 all in (cash over 12 months..). Not sure I can get a better deal from scratch, and I can upgrade from there.... (what else should I consider)
Other than the brooks, sounds good, will be nice to see a fuji track with drops, very novel.

For the money it's the best bike out there, go mad.

Ok, first off, I am NOT serious about the frontwheel. It "belongs" to another bike I have but by the time I took the picture, the actual front wheel of the Fuji has not been there yet :)

The stem's great for polo (that's what I got the bike for)... eventhough I have to get used to the very flat steering-angle. (hope that's the right term for it he he)

Yep the paint is much better now but I might strip it off...

I just bought an 09 Track please post more 09 bikes up want some inspiration!!

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the 'track' graphic from the tobtube? Looks really tacky imo might just tape it up with electrical tape, this wont damage the lacquer or paint will it?

I've picked up a fuji track 09 on't cheap (someone i know who got it on insurance as his only 'fixed' option) in anticipation of it being my winter beater - let my shiny shiny bikes (and hubs especially!) survive the grit this year - all i've done is put a charge knife on (my saddle of choice), put some hardcase tyres on, slapped a 17 on the back and changed the stem and bars (hussefelt and some bontrager overzise bulls) and a cane creek brake... all stuff already in the bits box though.

I'm finding it a bit rubbery compared to some of my other rides and I might stick some different forks on but it'll do as a beater - if you're getting one t start out on it'll do you great - shame it's a bit ugly! I'll slap some pics up at some point...

This is my first post at fgss. I am in the process of ordering a Fuji 2009 from Evans (my first fixed), as they ship internationally (living in Sweden). I got a few questions:
-As it comes with a 15 cog, and they don't stock individual cogs, from where will I be able to get a 17 cog that fits the Fuji? Or should I go with an 18?
-Is it difficult to change from the 15 to a 17? Or should I leave it to a bike shop?
-I am 193cm, and they recommended me a 61cm, is that what you should recommend as well?

Thanks in advance

to be honest, i'm about your height and the 61 track is a bit too small for me.

the sizes seem to come up small as the seat tube measurement is to the top of the tube, it is 59c, centre of bottom bracket to centre of top tube. but the top tube length is decent at 59, jus i have a lot of seatpost showing and a lot of rise on my stem, which makes the bike look horrifically ugly.

sorry if that's all a bit confusing

Per.. im 190cm and ride the 58 (it is a bit small... so the 61 should fit.... maybe....)

the cogs can be changed.. im running 17 at the moment.. its nice! (but they are hard to take off first time... Rota-fix is the best way)

Steer clear of the miche, track changing ones if you're riding street, they're usually fine but can come a bit loose due to the 2 separate parts.

Unfortunately Velosolo didn't have any 17/18 in stock, and it'll take another 4(!) weeks before they do, any other suggestions of shops?

Seems like some people prefers the 18 instead of the 17, is there a big difference?
