after getting a new back wheel built by this amazing guy i was wondering if anyone else has got anything built by him or knows anything about him. if you dont know about this guy, he has been building wheels for over 55 years, building for all the london stores at one point or another (holdsworth, witcomb, brixton cycles, de ver, apex cycles and probably evans before they became massive) he does all his repairs and wheel building at home on the same day, even though he is over 80 years old. when i went to get the wheel built i turned up on saturday outside his house on railton road and he built the wheel in under 30 mins.

is this the guy on railton rd?

yeah, with the signs outside his house, which is like bike tardis, with bike/ wheel parts everywhere (inside and out)

well the wheel seems to be pretty good, but we will see how it goes. it comes with a one year guarantee.

He's a cool guy but I once got him to so some work on a wheel and it was done so badly that I had to redo it all myself, which I would usually have done in the first place but I was in a hurry. Bit of a shame really cos he's got some great stories and he's a nice enough dude. Glad to hear that you had a better experience, maybe mine was a one off.
