| | Maybe Buffalo Bill might have the best answer? But I'm only replying, as a bicyle messenger just delivered to us, and we had a chat about the state of play in the "pushie" industry. Its not good. He told me that the flat rate now in London at his company, is £2.25 per job. Whereas, a decade and a half ago, it was £2.75 from one postcode to the next, and extra beyond. Now he's being paid the same for a SW1->W1 job, as a W6-Canary Wharf. Thats taking the piss. How are pushies expected to make a living? I hope you find a much better company than the one you're in now, and miles better than the one I've just described. |

| | Thanks Hops. I don't mind a bit of soul but its not really relevant. But I definitely want BIKES, not cars or Motorbikes that make my life difficult when I am on the road myself. (Unless its big and heavy stuff obviously). I am looking into it. Thanks for all your advice. |

| | All of which is just messenger stuff. Decision makers at your clients who decide which company they want to use, care about: * Secure Delivery, on time * Availability * Billing, accuracy, understanding, timing * Relationship with the pick-up desk, account manager, etc * Professionalism collecting and delivering And then some, like the OP care about: * Choice of mode of transport * Conditions for the staff At the companies I worked for, when involved in the decisions (which I was several times) I can tell you that no-one paused to ask who rides fastest. And if we had, we'd probably have gone cool on that company as whilst speed is important we wouldn't have felt it was more important than the package arriving in one piece with the contents intact (because a £150k recording on an original master tape isn't a cheap thing to replace, especially when a deadline is missed). Again, define "best". I'll happily accept that Creative are best, but you could at least provide evidence of the claim that is attractive to clients, rather than an inter-messenger back-slapping without arguing why the client should care. |
