Sad day for cycling...

Ian Hibell, perhaps the greatest cycling adventurer ever, was killed in a hit and run

thats terrible. i remember seeing him on a show and explaining that he had, had to have his top tube replaced twice, because the sweat from his brow had eaten through it.

Thats terrible news. Still, he must have had a great life, so probably no regrets. Beats sitting behind a desk all day.

I have just noticed that the Guardian's report on this says "But, with sad inevitability, Ian Hibell met his end after being knocked off his bicycle in a collision with a car". Where's the inevitability? Are we supposed to accept that if you ride for long enough then you'll eventually be killed by a car driver?
