Chain alignement question

I just put new Condor Miche wheels on my bike. I used the old free wheel which was nice and smooth on the last set (Alex Rims). But I now I can't get the chain to run smooth?

I also installed a chain tensioner but I don't see how that would affect it, as they don't affect the chain alignment unless they tensioned differently. (They're spot on I was very careful)

Any ideas guys. Have I missed something simple (please tell me it something simple) Should I have not used an old free wheel?

the chainline is probably different, ie : the front chainring and the back cog aren't lined up

Hmmm, is it something I can attempt or should I leave it for the professionals? Very keen to get my hands dirty.

Change the length of your bottom bracket (i.e. get a new one) or use freewheel spacers (only works to a degree.)

just to clarify the best option would be to get a new bottom bracket, rather than getting a spacer?

yup... depends on what you got but you can get a 103 bb for example and that will bring the cranks closer to the frame thus straightening your chainline,

i managed it with a 103 using a chainring on the outer

I wish they had mentioned this when I bought the wheels. The missus is gonna kill me, just spent 200 on the wheels! Any suggestions on a decent bottom bracket.

I'm not as clueless as this post might suggest.....

perhaps an easier option might be buying a freewheel that gives a better chainline?

You can check your chain alignment with a steel rule.

Easy.

Easier still, take it back to CONdor and ask them to sort it.

I don't have a rule long enough, so I will be taking it into condor. Hopefully they can tell me what to do with it.
