It's only 5mm when they are vertical but a few more degrees lean can make a noticeable diff.
Scraping toe clips unless they are real loose ones doesn't sound too good. Road conversion?
Clipless baby!

hehe, yeah been meaning to give spd's a go. In the meantime gonna change the crankset anyways and sort gearing (52:15 remember - pentonville road pain) so i'll try the shorter cranks. Still reckon i'll end up with 700's but i really like the look of the Suns!

I'd like some forks please.

suitable for a 1 inch head tube, steel frame that i'm converting to a winter bike.
Ideally i'd like to ditch the threaded malarkey and go with a 1" ahead set even though that will
look terribble i don't care - especially as i'll be riding in the rain and road grit a lot - don't want
another alu-stem seizure!

Cool, it's still at cavendish cycles if you'd like to pick it up from there? If not we're both out west so you could drop by mine on your way home from work?

Probably easier for me to pick it up from your place as it's on the way home for me and I've not been to Cavendish cyc. Surprised I didn't visit them when I was on Oxford St.
Is it a PITA to get the wheel to your place?

Hmm would actually prefer a carbon fork if it had an alloy steerer - i find those expander bungs
don't grip tightly enough in a carbon steerer and things get all loose. I suppose i could glue a
bit of metal to the inside and use a starfangly thingy. How much did you have in mind?
It hasn't been doinked has it?

It was removed before I proceeded to crash with the brand new alu steerer fork in.. the day after! Fsck!
Still, can't vouch for its history although the bike when I bought it was barely used and it didn't snap during the couple of weeks I rode it. :)
They're kinda like these without the mudguard eyes: http://www.highonbikes.com/product.asp?cookiecheck=yes&p_id=309

t.o.:Cane Creek SCR-5s F + R. I bought them second hand for £40 from Flatlander thinking they'd fit my frame, but the drop isn't long enough (evidently my frame is large in every sense!). I think the rrp is £100 ish, they're in excellent condition (I was very pleased with them until they didn't fit). Don't want to lose money on them, I could probably ebay them for more but I'm not looking to make money either...

or would swap (plus money, from me to you) for a super-strong, true pair of 700c wheels (rear flip flop hub) (my frame has I think 135mm b/w rear stays).

:) thanks
Hi tim I have a friend who is intrested in them cane creeks if you still have them. Check your email for his cell fone number.

What I've got:

A Campagnolo Centaur rear brake (brand-spanking new, never been used.)
A pair of Tektro TL 720 bar end brake levers (internal cable routing, shiny silver levers, brand new, in box.)
One Tektro RX 4.1 bar end brake lever (shiny silver lever, brand new, in box.)
A pair of Ambrosio drop handlebars (about 39cm wide, 26mm diameter, scratches all over and bad scoring where a brake has been attached to the right-hand drop. Of course, you won't see that under bar tape.)
One British-made 90mm quill stem with 26mm clamp (silver in colour, with a bit of scratching. Could do with a cover plate or something, to hide the adjusting nut.) For 1" steerer tubes.
One black leather 3TTT saddle (old, worn and not well cared for by the previous owner. It's still good enough to go on someone's old bike, though)
One 16-tooth cog for a 1/8" chain. Black in colour. Lots of life left in it. Only replaced so I could run everything at 3/32".

What I'd like:

A white saddle in new or excellent used condition. Not fussy about the brand, but I'd like something that's not too wide, waterproof and free from plastic bits.
A pair of nondescript metal dust caps.
Bar end plugs. Something to match white tape, please.

Em...dunno what else. 144 BCD chainrings for five-arm cranks, maybe.

Naturally, I'd be happy to part with readies, cos my newest surplus bits and bobs aren't likely to be much use to you folk. But I'd like to think someone could find a home for the bars, stem and saddle. Beaters need parts too. :-)

Photos on request.

I have a set of stock bianchi pista wheels with an 18t cog, fairly grimey and with lfgss spoke cards in the rear. Will sell/exchange them minus the spoke cards and dirt (i paid good money for that dirt). Only really been used regularly for about 2 weeks in london, so basically in mint condition with an even newer cog (3/32).

Also i have a pink dirt harry lever if anyone is interested.

I need: cranks seatpost stem headset bottom bracket deep vs (just the rims and in suitably ridiculous and preferably mismatched colours) hubs (fairly narrow rear, at least 5 or more mm narrower than stock bianchi) handlebars (risers or bullhorns) long reach front brake seat chain chainring pedals/clips/straps and a rear cog. Oh and a re-spray and possibly new dropouts. and sort of narrowy axles.

Will trade for above or money. will pay for above with trade or money

:)
