might go against the grain here, just sold a pair of gran-compes and built up some goldtecs, and i think the gran compes might be the better hubs.

i do really like the goldtecs, but the grans seem to be made of a denser material, the spoke holes on the goldtecs went out of shape (that pull mark that comes from tensioning spokes) much faster than the gran compes.

i'm also not a big fan of the slotted type axle they use, especially since the cones/bearing seals float freely from the axle, makes flipping the rear wheel a bit more tedious.

and the outer bolts/washers aren't serrated so don't hold the wheel in place particularly well, especially with the aluminium axle, making it so you can't torque the bolts down as much as you could on phils.

aside from those minor issues though, the goldtecs spin much better than the gran compes, and they're very solid feeling on the road.

i think at the end, aesthetic would be the determining factor...
