my armadillos are coming to the end, so i will need to replace soon, opinion appreciated.
fractionally not as bombproof as armidillo's but still pretty good, softer compound make them a little more grippier, sidewalls are thinner and give a slightly better ride.

since the gatorskins are quite grippy - is it easy to wear it out with skidding? (especially stop-skid).

I controversially now rate Maxxis ReFuse as FAR better than Specialized Armadillo All Condition tyres.

I had previously believed that Armies were the best, but after what I have recently put ReFuses through, and the effectiveness of them, I have changed my mind. I can never recommend any tyre to be skid on; but for grip, puncture protection, and ride comfort, I rate the Maxxis ReFuses as top.

skidding armidillos are better as harder compound and not as sticky.

It's a great frame for the money, the only thing I'm desperate to do is get a more elegant (and shorter) stem on there. I have one lying around, I just need the forks now.

V. true. The only original parts left on mine are the Frame and Forks.
Still looks a lot like this, couple of alterations since the pic though.

Fixie Inc. StraightCurve fork would compliment the Pista well;

in that case, gatorskins for the front, and armidillos for the rear.

£90, yeah it does, but the subtle lugged-style fork (well, it doesn't look like a proper lugged one) give the bike a classier look, never liked the standard fork on the Pista, look too much like an 90's cheap MTB one.

Know what you mean re: classier look.
But reckon as I've changed so much I'd be better holding off, saving up and upgrading the Frame and Forks together.

the green on the frame to cover up the rainbow bonanza which bianchi seem to favour has been the best alteration Ive seen to a pista to date. It looks like ribbon but could well be electrical tape...enlighten me

Yep, leccy tape, although it's only temporary as I'm planning a full re-spray with vintage Bianchi decals and chrome details on chainstay and forks.

howdy!

i posted this on another thread but was pointed to this one.

i was also told that i would be drilled about the fact i am primarily a roadie...but as i said fixie curious!

anyway, i love bikes!

my current collection consists of:
'86 bianchi Reparto Corse with record and delta brakes

winter bike: cannondale caad 9 with a mix of sram force and bits n pieces...i am running a SCOR fork with disc brake...awesome in the wet

race bike: cannondale super six ultmate with red group and soon with lew clincher wheels with tune hubs- 6.7kg (not bad for a size 60)

so i'm thinking the next bike is to build a fixie out of my master frame...
