| | Respect, Steves - cushy number. I've spent the last couple of weeks in the good ole United States of USA and fuck me their Olympics coverage is shite. Michael Phelps, Michael Phelps, 12 yr old gymnast, Michael Phelps, Michael Phelps' Mum, Beach Volleyball (...so some fringe benefits) and that's it. They only show the american & maybe one other competitor, don't show all the heats - just the one with them in, so you get no sense of the build up. Shit, shit and shit. Now I'm de-jetlagged I'll be catching up with I-player. The BMX was excellent this morning though - good crash action in the mens. I like Kenney's comment about Hoy: “He's only human and he's got strengths and weaknesses.” When then asked to name those weaknesses, he paused and answered: “Maybe not weaknesses, just weaker strengths.” Tough. |

they switched to one presenter talking to another presenter in the 'drome right after pendleton's (or hoy's?) run. and there was a race happening behind them. Last edited by fatboyralph; 20th August 2008 at 13:19.. Reason: eg | |

| | I find the BBC coverage pretty good, especially with the red button coverage - at least you can choose which sport to watch. it's definitely better than the aussie channel 7 coverage, which according to my mates at home consists of endless montages of days-old swimming results, plus a bit of gymnastics sandwiched between ad breaks. almost nothing is live, and if there's no aussie winning a medal then it's just not getting shown. they have no multi-channel or web streaming. sounds completely shit. apart from the unavoidable jingoism i reckon the beeb coverage has been pretty ace. |

| | "At the end we all just looked at each other in shock, I mean what can you say about Usain's run? Unbelievable. For me, I didn't run particularly great and I didn't really give myself a chance on the bend. Still, I'll take the good from these finals - I'm injury-free for one - and I can get better than this. Usain will have a bad day some time and I'm improving, so I'm looking forward to next season." Britain's Christian Malcolm after finishing sixth in the 200m |
