Would it be possible to install a nice iPhone theme, like this one.

Pretty please VB?

I'd have no way of testing it with the other modifications I've made.

I'll tell you what, if you get me an iPhone I'll make sure the website works perfectly on it.

I can test it, or lend you an iPod touch (pub with WiFi?)

Not sure about the main site, the community forum is working for me...

yes, but it's not so good for iphone / ipod due to big finger issues, plus no login ability.

if it'll be lots of work then don't worry. :-)

i'm just bored with being off work and my wish list is going into overdrive.

I think Apple do a (free?) virtual iPhone for this very reason.

Let me check for you . . . .

OK, I am back !

Er, not sure, there are a couple, a free SDK and a posh $99 one, the development Virual iPhone is very cool indeed.

You can see it in action about half way through this presentation:

yep, you get an iphone/ipod touch simulator as part of the iphone sdk - it has a fully working browser in it. Now you've no excuse VB ;)

why download it from there when you can just download it from apple? at least with the one from apple you know exactly what you're getting

That iPhone style seems a bit dodgy to be honest. It's not quite complete and whilst it looks OK it is hard-coded with too many weird things.

I'll give you something though... just give me time to work out how.

thanks buddy - it would be great for now when I am not in front of a pc with a working mouse arm.

btw, if you fancy an early doors beer with mr mouse and me at any point, you work quite centrally don't you?

we could even do a 'Central beers' thread!

Yeah, I work central. Tonight is out as it's the first night I'll have finished on time all week. But another night, yeah 'tis cool.

I'll get the theme done ASAP.

The iPhone SDK is only available for Macs.

I've had to work blind.

I have no idea whether what I've done works, but it looks pretty in my Sony Ericsson M600i.

Let me know whether it works.

But seriously, if you really want me to support it I'm going to need an iPhone. So if there are little niggles, either communicate them really clearly (screenshots, as much debugging as you can manage) or learn to tolerate them.

Hey VB, tried it out on my iPhone - pretty good but took a bit of getting used to. So does the site detect that you're using a mobile and switch to that view? Is there a way that I can switch it back to the standard site view if I want to?

It detects based on browser headers. In Opera on my Windows Mobile there is an option to identify the browser as a "desktop" machine... which changes the browser user agent and then you get the full version.

I have no iPhone. Buy me one and I'll let you know how to change it.

I will check this out on my iPod touch tonight and give some feedback. Also, VB, I have no problem lending it to you for a week or so. Stupid bloody timing, you have done this whilst I was away on holiday and the iPod was sitting in my flat, unused!

Thanks for what you've done so far :-)

There was a few situations when i used it on my touch where the font size / space between number of pages of threads could do with a tweak, the touch screen was often sending me to a different page I wanted. though that's more my fat fingers. Was less of an issue when i ran the site with the normal theme in the past

Runs nice and fast though which is the main thing for a mobile theme

No idea :)

It's just a stripped down and light theme. Should work in almost any device. Colours are a little crap though I'll admit.

Screen shot from iPhone.
To be honest, I had no problems using it as it was, but this might be quicker for 3G and Edge.
