| Rider Down. Another bike bites the dust Riding along a residential road this morning on the way to the supermarket. When a volvo 4by4 tried to overtake, only he failed to see the bollards in the middle of the road thus forcing him to swerve into me. The next 10 seconds are a blur. When I finally stop moving I don't really feel hurt. It is only when I try to get up that I see that pedals are still clipped to my shoes alas with no bike, and my left arm is facing the wrong way and is a rather fetching shade of red.
The funny/scary thing is that the driver did not stop apparently he sped off with my bike jammed underneath. The police later told me that bike eventually damaged the car thus forcing him to stop and seek assistance.
I have just left the hospital with a now fixed dislocated shoulder and 184 stitches with a promise of skin graphs in the near future. Yet I feel quite happy which I have just put down to the painkiller they gave me. |
