I've been playing bike frisbee with a couple of mates these last years, but now came across bike-polo and would like to get involved. Is there a fixed playing time/venue in Cambridge? I guess, I need a stick to play - is there a cheap option to improvise one to get started? Do I need a fixed-gear bike - or can I play with any old bike (don't have a fixed gear one...yet)?

hah, its was pretty rough out there for cycling. I went out at night the day it snowed and just did skids for hours, great fun.
We meet at the Maypole Pub at 6.30/7ish near the jesus green multistory carpark every thursday. Go for a little ride anywhere that the first person takes us then come back and have a few pints.
Anyway, see if you can make it one week, its worth just getting to know other riders in cambridge.
